ok so i got a fully bulit and turbo 420a I am looking for around 350 maxing out my t4 but fuel tuning is becoming a problem. I am running 780cc injectors on a return system using a 1:1 rising rate regulator with a apexi safc but cant turn down low throttle enough so looking for away to re write the ecu. any info would be a huge help. thanks

It's not been done yet. If anyone says they have reflashed a 99 2GNT ECU, they're lying.

I'd suggest you look into getting the MegaSquirt to tune your fuel. SAFC = piggy back = weak sauce imo.

Google.

i have been told by my tech buddy you can through the obd2 port, he is talking with people in europe they seem to have the softwear need to reflash the ecu. ECU stuff isnt my strong point so i dont know much on the topic, does this sound totaly stupid.

ok so i did research on the megasquirt, to use this in the 420a is a total pain in the ass you need to use the megaspark as well for it to work and then even if you do you cant control your IACV. now mitsubishi sells a unit to use to reprogram the ecu but just to rent it cost 3,500, the 420a is a re-flashable ecu but getting the base map is damn near imposable, so my shop is working on writting one will keep you posted.

If you guys do that ,then you will pioneer and make some money and help us that don't have a 97' a chance to have a better ecu and take advantage of a few extra needed ponies.please keep us all informed

Base map. Pretty sure the data is stored in tables and the processor pulls these variables as they are needed. And when I said it was impossible to reflash the ECU, I used the wrong word. No one has replaced the OEM code with anything custom on a 99. Yes, it is definitely possible, but so far, the only 2GNT ECU with something like this is the 97 MTX from Howell. I can tell you you're not the only one working on the ECU reflash issue. There are some smart mother####ers across the country trying to crack that bastard and they're getting close, but still haven't got that last hurdle crossed. I'm not saying it's impossible to do, as anything is possible with sufficient funding, but I highly doubt it's anything anyone needs to do. I also suspect that anyone who does crack the code will not rush into the market to sell this either. You might just keep an eye out for a group of guys with a laptop going from car to car next summer at the Shootout. ;)

I know several people running the MegaSquirt and none have mentioned any troubles of any sort. In fact, there are several of us (I say us, as I will be using this same set up by Christmas), who are getting ready to upgrade the MS with spark control. Have a friend who builds these systems and he's made great advances in getting the MS ready to control ignition timing too. A great system if you're running higher CR and boost (as I will be).

I'm completely sold on the MS. I know people who build them and people who use them. I've never heard anyone say anything about IAC or this MegaSpark deal. By Christmas, I'll have total fuel system control and more than likely ignition timing control as well for around $500. Hard to beat imo.

I've personally flashed multiple 2gnt's. The computer is re-writeable but not in the manor in which most people think.

The computer has the capability of being re-writen however, we don't seem to have a company that wants to try and hack the codes. The only codes that Chrysler has released on any of their on-board diagnostic cars has been the vipers.

It's not a matter of not being able to. It's a matter of finding someone who can/will.

p.s. Why not try and lower the fuel pressure and use the AFC to richen up things instead of the other way around? I understand what you mean with the fuel pressure regulator that you HAVE, but the options are limited more with the computer and less with the fuel system. You could probably even put smaller injectors in and again jack up the AFC.

I also mentioned somewhere in this thread that there are people working on it these days, but we aren't really interested in selling it when we're done. :thumb:

So you'll be helping out the 2gnt community by giving the codes away right??? :thumb:

Maybe. Maybe not.

just to keep you all posted, my shop has made some good progress on the reflashing issue will tell more when we get it working god

there is a shop somewhere here in denver that has reprogrammed a 420a ecu i cant seem to locate it at this point but a guy i know is looking for the paper work he has on it as he is not the original owner or the one who built it but he has a 98 with the ecu reprogrammed im trying to locate it myself its been a pain in the a** i dont know if the shop is even open still but i know it can be done. my buddie is running his on all stock internals running 8lbs of boost. no check engine light no fuel cut or anything. it made the 4g63t look like a pu**y.

Guys I'd suggest letting this post ride. Its his second post. Don't worry about the old thread, the heresay info, the "my buddy's got this" and the inflammatory 4g63 line.

Just let it ride.
