so I just picked up a second dsm, 95 talon tsi awd, but having an issue with the trans. When switching from second to third quickly, the shifter feels like it engages but when you let the clutch out nothing happens, the engine just free revs. If I pull it out of third and put it right back in it works fine. If you switch from second to third slow or normal it engages fine and will pull through 3rd without it popping out of gear or anything out of the ordinary, anyone have any insight to what it may be?

Broken shift fork possibly with one tab good one tab broke? Just speculation.

Ok, I have never heard of this happening to anyone so wasn't sure what it could be. Thank you for the quick response, its much appreciated.

The forks are kinda weak so it is just a guess until you get in the inside or have it looked at but when one ear is broke it doesn't move the slider as far when you shift since only one is really engaged. I haven't had it happen but if you search "broken shift fork" you will probably see the results. Also here is a good thread:
