Hey guys, apologies for not being able to search for this, still trying to fully figure out tapatalk. I have an issue that left me stranded the other day with the talon blowing 30amp block fuses like crazy. I replaced it twice thinking bum fuses, but it seems there is a short somewhere. Basically id replace the fuse, the car would start and run then once I put it in gear and moved about 10 feet it would completely die on me again. Ive already checked front o2 wiring and nothing is melted or exposed. Ive looked at the engine grounds in the bay and all of them are clean and tight as when I had them installed. Anyone have any ideas where I shoulsld look for this short? I know that pa rticular fuse is tied to the fuel pump, front o2 sensor and starter if im not mistaken. Anyone have any ideas I can try?

Update time,

Well i traced all the wiring for the front o2 sensor, and I didnt see anything that was cut. All of the heat wrapping is still in tact and looks brand new (o2 sensor was brand new when i did engine overhaul). So now i'm trying to shorten the possibilities. I've pulled the starter when i yanked my trans, and the wiring looked pretty good, had some grease on them (ruptured CV boot) but nothing cut. Now I'm thinking my only other options are the alternator and the fuel pump unless i'm missing anything. Has anyone had an issue like this before?

Still no chime-ins on this? I've goggled it and you tubed it and still have found nothing that is a common occurrence with these vehicles. There are a few articles on dsmtalk.com but nothing that has an answer to it. I'm thinking its alternator wiring, but if that was the case and the battery was the only thing powering the car, why would it just fire right up again once the fuse was replaced? Kinda lost on this one, could use some serious wisemen help if at all possible :)

Is it blowing fuses as soon as you turn the key to crank the engine over (send power to the starter solenoid)?

No, it will fire right up (no hesitation) and will idle fine. When you put it into gear and start moving forward it will move for about 20-30 feet and then die again. Hope that helps... This issue really has me puzzled, especially since it will still drive even if it is for 30 feet before blowing the new fuse.

I found this today while removing the alternator for testing. This Is on the main harness that provides power and ground to the alt. The clip that was there to hld the stuff together was cutting into the wire as shown. Any ideas?
