3000gt v. Eclipse GSt

I'm turning 16 and I still dont have a car...What is your opioin on a 3000gt rather than a 99 eclipse gst.......Please tell me what you guys think.. thanks alot guys....peace out

I had a '97 GS-T and a '97 base model 3000GT when I was 16. The eclipse was faster and more fun to drive while I thought the 3000GT looked better and was more luxurious.
When I was 19 I bought a '99 VR-4 and mod'd it. Nice car.

It basically comes down to what you want and which you enjoy driving more. The Eclipse is definately lighter and cheaper to mod. The VR-4 is IMO better looking (stock) and gets a lot of attention.

I think my VR-4 was more special because it was a '99. I dont think I wouldve liked a pre-99 model as much. And I dont know if I got a lemon but it gave me a lot of problems. It was always in the shop and was becoming more of a hassle than it was worth, so I sold it.

Anyway, my girlfriend was recently in the market for a new car and she was torn between an eclipse and a vr-4. I convinced her to get a Spyder GS-T

I'd recommend driving both before making your decision. If you have any specific questions, i'd be glad to give you my opinion.

I'm 21. I traded in the '97 3000GT for the '99 VR-4. I sold the '99 VR-4 and bought an '02 Z06.

i don't know which one i would take. im 19 and drive a beater escort. must be nice to have rich parents. oh well. if i can sell the beater for what its worth, im buying a 91 gvr4 i found on dsmtrader. have fun either way man.

I am 16 and have been driving for 11 months. I had a gst...but just sold it for my tsi awd...but the gst is a really fun car. My friend has a 3kgt..it looks really nice, and gets more respect from people that dont know how fast the eclipses can get..cus they think ohhhh 3kgt...but i think the gst is faster. Turbo is fun, just be responsible. And also I hate it on this board when a 16/17 year old posts about his gst/gsx that he has or is going to get...and they get bashed on just for having one..with people saying they are gonna crash it or just stupid stuff...and they should get a 120 hp hyundai or beeter...when they dont even know how this person drives. Not all kids are dumbasses. But the gst is a good, fun, very capable car.

I've been driving for 5 years now, and I have had 3 accidents....1 total and 2 fixers(first car was a total....go figure.......No tickets, no citations, nothing.....am I a good driver - yes.......BUT the bozo who is driving with no license, or insurance, or the old lady leaving from the bank could care less how good of a driver you are....the point I am trying to make??? For every 1 good driver out there, there is one bad one, one really bad one, and 4 who don't belong behind the wheel. Those 4 dont care if you are in a Pinto, a Bronco, or a DSM. one question though, what is insurance like on the 1g eclipse/talons? I heard it was really really high, and i'd kinda like to know before i get one.

It all depends on what insurance you have and all that. Mine is like 250 a month because of an accident. b4 it it was about 150 for my moms mini van(oh yeah real pimp ride)

it pisses me off seeing those brand new drivers with Mercedes, BMW's, Lexus, New 2003+ model cars. the reason it pisses me off is because i see so many of those cars getting wrecked by the young ass kids driving em. to say you've been driving for 11months is absolutely nothing. thats still learning IMO. it take multiple YEARS to learn to drive and handle different situations properly.

get either one but don't come on here when you wreck it and are crying about it.

Maybe he started working when he was younger and has been saving?? Maybe he has a decent job after school? Do you know?? No you dont. I hate people that see a kid in a nice car and ASSUME his parents bought it for him. You say you wish you came from money, but I wish you came from a household that taught respect b/c you are in serious need of some.

Ive bought all of my cars from age 16 to now (19) including my DSM and the 6k that i have in it. And its people like you that say, " oh i guess his parents are rich" that make me wanna get out of my car and beat the hell out of you.
