Hi all
I have read on several threads, here and other forums, that you can use 3 bolt rear axles with evo inner stub axles / cups / tulips, but you need the tripod bearings. The 3 bolt inners have a roller style from what I have seen on ASA whereas the LSD cups use the tripods. 4 Bolt rear axles are basically this setup, do the "main" axles taper a little as they get to the splines where the tripods are mounted? Otherwise there is no chance the tripods will fit onto the thinner 3 bolt axles.
I have a JDM VR4 with a standard open rear diff. I have sourced a mechanical LSD from an evo 3 and the stub axles to go with it. The guy didn't have the tripods.
Has anyone done this and can confirm it works?
If so, was any machining or additional modification required?
Does anyone have the specs / info / part number for the tripods?
I'll post pics and a write up of the swap if this is actually doable
Cheers
