i've been contemplateing my excessive gas use, and sometimes phantom fuel loss.. i know the fuel gauge has lag etc.. but sometimes i can empty the entire tank in a day's worth of driveing.. maybe 100miles of hard stop-go no cool down constantly driving. my #4 injector has not been leaking.. i know.. i should have replaced the o-ring long ago.. i just haven't had the money to do anything but change oil and put gas in her =c

Awhile back i took my car to a honda speacialist xD i dunno, it was the closest full-service shop.. i figure honda's weren't much diffrent.. the techy there told me that this was not the original engine..it was the galant vr4 engine.. and because it was a swap that they could not work on the car.. people who did swaps came in for repairs, and then when their engines failed..they sued the shops.. so they no longer work on modified engines or swaps.. after stateing this he became very angry and screamed at me to never bring this car to this service station again..
all i wanted was a timing belt install...

the next 3-5 service stations did not want to work on the car either.. it was a good bit until i found a shop to do the work..

How do i know for sure what motor is in my talon.. i thought it was a 420a..
what is diffrent about the galant vr4? Does it run at 3.0 liters?

would this change if a talon head were put on a galant motor?

:hmm:

You could post a picture of your engine bay.

I'm just trying to figure out are you actually going into all thread that have interest in ''v6'' swaps and replying much less read them?

The OP hasn't done the swap so how would he have pictures for you? LOL.

because the OP owns the car thus the op can pull out a camera and take a pic? maybe he wants to see how the engine fits in the bay? why do you have to be a ass about it.

The OP stated that he wasn't completely sure what engine was in his (or her) car. I was asking for a picture to help confirm which engine was indeed there. What "other" v6 threads are you talking about?

I am completely baffled by this. But I will doubt the accuracy of his previous 79 tech posts.

According to your profile, a 95 N/T car should have a 420A motor. To swap in a galant VR-4 motor (4G63T with 2.0 Liters displacement) would require not just a little work, and I think you would notice the difference.

I'm a little confused about the other service stations not wanting to do a timing belt job on your car. If it is a 420A it's hangin out in the open and relatively easy.

Also, if you put T/E/L heads on the galant it will not increase displacement by 1 Liter.

Stay out of it.

This is why I'm asking the odd question to the other I read his post, it appears he knows what a ''420a'' is but it's like this is a completely different person.

You don't have a Galant VR-4 motor in your Talon. The Galant VR-4's in America have the same 4g63 as the DSMs. So if in fact, by some divine miracle, there is a 3.0 V6 in your Talon, it's not a VR-4 engine. And putting a "Talon head" on a Galant motor? Um...

o.0

well then the honda techy was wrong.. it's not a v6 nor is it a 4g6x

It looks very much like a 420a .. just asking dsm guys who have vastly more knowledge then me... if it were possible that a 3.0 420a, for galant's or any dsm was ever made.. or has been done.. I've had the head off, everything looks stock, but my eyes can't meassure liter capacity of an engine.. and theres no way for me to know what a stroker kit would look like, not having seen one on a talon yet. Other then maybe the pistons never coming up over the deck.. which they do..

So overall it's ultra highly improbable that this engine is 3.0L and i should continue diagnosing things..
my earlier 3.0L post was refering to a v6 swap.. not related to this thread.. not trolling...

Obvious troll is obvious...or...Stupid human is stupid. You guys pick, but if this guy truly had his head off and couldn't figure out if it was a V6 or I4, well then, make your own assumptions.

I was also quote baffled by this. OP, either post a pic of the engine bay or do your own research. You're very confusing, if you had the head off, maybe you couldn't see the engine displacement etc. but you can count right? were there 4 pistons? if so it's obviously not a V6. And most probably not a 3.0l either.

we need a pic of your engine bay then we can help out more

do you have pics with the cylinder head off?

if the pistons are coming over the deck that means that they would hit the cylinder head and destroy it self

thats why they move the wrist pin up on a stroker kit

...maybe he is getting at the Galant having a 3.0...because the years after the DSM vr4....had the 3.0??

He is obviously talking about the 6a13 or whatever it's called. It's the 6th gen galants. Awd tt.. Close relation with the 6g72. Someone on here has done that swap. Hard to find parts for those motors because they were never produced here.
