What Motor Is In My Talon????

I have a '93 Talon built in October 1992. It takes the larger diameter oil filter (Fram PH3950) and the catalog says that the filter is for motors built before april 1992. Assuming I have a motor built before April of 1992 what are the pro's and cons of this motor? Thanks, mark

If the original engine is still in your car you have a 7 bolt. Which is still a very good engine, my 94 tsi has 152,XXX miles and still running strong. I think the large diameter oil filters will fit any turbo 4G63 because I use them on my wife's 99 GS-T even though it calls for the small one. Only the 90-92.5 year models came with the 6 bolt engine that everyone wants so unless your engine was changed you have the later model 7 bolt. Hope that helped a little.

not even all 92s are 6 bolt. it switch in late 92. you have a 7bolt unless someone put a 6 bolt in there.

It's a 7-bolt as I just changed the flywheel and clutch/tranny. Just seemed odd that the car was built in October 1992 and the motor before April 1992. Iguess this is a good 7-bolt not prone to crank walk. Thanks, Mark
