What Year Is My Gvr-4 Rs Motor

Hello,
I am fairly new to the dsm community, as well as the cars,
last summer i purchased a 92 AWD TSI as a project car, paid $500 for it cus the motor and tranny were shot. As a quick fix i bought a jdm crate motor with trans from Japan Genral Motors,, I receved the motor, ECU, and Trans, as i no longer have the ECU that came with it, and just have a USDM EPROM ECU off a 93 tsi, I am wondering if i will have a problem, because people are telling me my motor might be off a 1990, and i might need the origonal ecu, here is what fetures came with my motor,

cyclone intake man
big 16g
510cc injectors
external oil cooler (or oil filter housing with banjo bolts for external cooler)
6 bolt flywheel
AWD trans with T case
red valve cover

along with a few other differant parts as well, I understand this motor is off a galant vr4 rs
but is there any way to know what year car this motor came from?
really i just want to know if my ecu i have now will work?

You will not have a problem. Doesn't matter if the motor is a 90 or 93. Just use the cam sensor and other sensors off ## 92 for the 90 motor if it is a 90 motor. The ecu on the 90 is different on the 91-94. You have to change two pinouts on the ecu to put a 90 ecu into a 91-94. This should help. VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions.

yeah just use the cas and the coil and power transitior off the bad engine and use your 93 ecu, you should have no problems, but u could have a tranny problem the gear ratio's might be off for your rearend . You might have to get a tranny. pics please.
