how do i tell what year my motor is?

Is there a way I can tell what year my motor is by the vin on the block?
The motor is not the original one and I know its a seven bolt just want to know the year. thanks in advance

You can check the main bearings to check if they are a split thrust.also u can call a dealer and ask if they can tell u info from the vin. Also if the motor had blue 450s its a early made motor.

Did you find the vin on the block? It's by the transmission end.
