Alright so i just got my engine bearings from ACL and ordered from the 98-99 3 pieces thrust washer set-up. However, when i went to install i realized something was wrong and it didnt fit right. I looked at the old bearings and realized the thrust washer and the middle main bearing was in 1 piece!

Is it possible for a 98 GST 7 bolt to have a one piece thrust washer set-up or is the engine from another year:confused:

There should be a serial number stamped on the back of to block on a smooth surface. Should have your engine year there!

definitely check that number, just being one year off can change parts, all my timing tensioner was wrong because i have a 96 car with a 95 engine in it.

They changed the part numbers for the thrust bearings and such on the 97-99, as this lead to a possible fix of crankwalk.

So its been a while guys thanks to cali's unemployment rate FML, but i need a little help once more. I know alot of guys like the CAS that is attached to the passenger side of the intake cam due to the adjustable base timing, however i have the CAS that is under the intake cam gear. Now after ALOT of reading there is conflicting info as to what year the CAS is.
My car is a 98 GST But considering i bought the WHOLE car for 4 bills im not sure what year the block/head/random parts are.
Im working on getting some adjustable Cam gears but it seems difficult to find gears with the interior circular metal Housing that supports the CAS.

IS 95-99 the interior CAS and everything pre 95 the CAS on the passenger side of the Intake cam or is this info wrong? :ohdamn:

Any info appreciated

90-94 have just an adjustable cam sensor which is on the passenger side, 95-96 have the cam sensor on the driver side under the cam gear and a crank sensor, 97-99 have a non adjustable cam sensor on the passenger side like a 1g, but use a crank sensor like the 95-96.

In all honesty, you will not find adjustable cam gears with the trigger ring like the 95/96 CAS. At least not any that I would be comfortable using. Your best bet is to convert to a CAS that sits on the left side of the head so you can use non-CAS cam gears.
