what year is my engine?

so i have a 98 eclipse with a turbo engine, the only problem is i need to pinpoint the year so i can figure out what parts i can actually put in. i checked the vin on my tranny but cant locate the one on the block. as far as i know the tranny is a 95 from lookin up the vin. but the vin on all the panels and on the fire wall tell me its an rs. is it possible for a 95 tranny to match up with different year engines or is my engine most likely a 95 4g63T? oh and i also know its a 7 bolt because i just had the tranny rebuilt so 90-92 is definitely out.

If the car is a '98 GST like your profile says, then you can count out the fact of it having an RS trans in it. The RS models use a 420A motor/trans from the Dodge Neon.

the title says that its a 98 rs, but since its turbo i know there has been a swap done im just trying to figure out the year of the engine itself, and i'll post pics tomorrow. i would now but its a little dark out .

If it has a cam and crank sensor then its a 95-96 if it has CAS looking thing like the 1g on the intake cam then its 97-99. If you open the driver door and look on the side it has the manufacture date, remember if it says 96 the its 97, if 97 then 98 and so forth.

It is a 4g63. i love the that cover, funny. looks like the 97-99 like it should.
