I have a 1995 GS with an automatic.
The car turns over, but i cant get it to fire up. I'm not getting spark, and from what i can tell I'm not getting an injector pulse either.

I bought the car with this issue, and the previous owner told me he had installed a new cam and crank sensor to try and fix the problem. I've also tried 2 other ECU's to see if it was some sort of problem there, but nothing.

At this point I'm stumped. The only other thing i can think of is maybe some sort of wiring issue? A possible short somewhere? I'm really hoping there is some common problem or something really stupid I just over looked.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Any key dance codes? Verify the ASD relay is energizing as that supplies high current to the coil and injectors.

I sorta feel like an idiot asking, but what are dance codes?

I did a little research into the ASD relay and it sounds like it's not too terribly uncommon of a problem. from what i read i should also check to make sure the relay is getting a signal from the crank sensor which leads to my next question. Obviosly the car isn't starting so something is wrong somewhere. How do i properly test the relay to find out if that's the cause and not just a short somewhere in between?

2GNT.com - PCM_Error_Codes

Also there is a small wire that runs to your starter you can unplug that and run a wire with some aligator clamps on the starter and with your key in the on position tap the other end of the alligator clip to the possitive battery terminal. This will by-pass the ignition system. If it starts up you know the problem lies somewhere from the key to the starter. Check out that ignition wire on the starter too. I talked someone down another 500 bucks buying my last eclipse because he couldn't start the car and I happened to notice that something had burned straight through that wire.

I don't think it's an ignition problem because the car cranks over, it just wont fire.
Thanks for the link though!

If anyone could give me pointers on how to test that relay that would be awesome!

*Update*

So I replaced the ASD relay and made sure it was receiving power. Still no luck. I hooked the computer to it but it's not throwing any codes. my guess is that's from the new ecu and not being able to let it run. i know my Celica needs to run for 10-15 min before it will throw any codes after being reset.

My Father took a look at it and he seems to think its a problem with some wire that's going to the ignition. There are i believe 4 wires that connect to a plug in the steering column. The wire he thinks is the problem is Black with a white stripe. I haven't followed the wire to find out where it goes, and was hoping someone knew what it was for so i could save a bit of time.

any more ideas guys?
Appreciate the help!

I am up against a similar issue. Mine starts but only fires on 2 cyclinders. The # 2 & 3 plugs aren't getting signal. I'll keep you posted if I cure mine to give you further places to search.

Well... i rechecked everything that made sense to me. still nothing though. anyone got any more ideas? Someones gotta know whats up with my this thing.

Verify hard timing? I know you're not getting codes, but this IS a dreaded 95 ;) Have you verified that your timing belt is on and hasn't slipped or even broken?

That was one of the first things i checked right after i went through the fuses. The belts intact and everything lines up. It's the strangest thing. I mean, it seems like it would just be something stupid cutting power to everything and im just over looking it, but everything i've checked checks out fine...

Whatever happened with your dad's inkling? The B/W wire supplies power to the PCM, so if there's a problem with it and the PCM isn't getting power (intermittently, perhaps), then the injectors and coil won't work.

Can you verify the crank and cam angle sensors are outputting a signal? Do you measure +12V at each of the injectors and on the center pin of the ignition coil?
