Okay so as the title says I own a 95gsx auto. Within the last few days I noticed a hesitation when placing the car into "D". Example backing up and coming to a complete stop and putting the car into Drive it would hesitate for several seconds or until I slightly stepped on the gas. I figured the tranny with 143k on it was beginning to "slip".
However, the problem was not consistent. It would act up periodically. I checked fluid level. Performed a flush and filter change and double checked all of the connectors on the transmission. Today I go to the store and getting ready to leave the car wont go. I play with the selector and finally get the car to pull itself. The odd thing was the car wouldnt only move while the tach was between 2-3k RPMs. Anything less anything more and it wouldnt budge.
I drove to the store and bought a can of Trans-X. I figured if it will get me by for a few days, mind you I drive about 6blocks round trip to and from work and rarely go out of town, then why not try it? I put the can in and let the car idle for several minutes. Still same issue although when the car did start moving it shifted better and didnt "slip" at all. I pulled out onto the Highway making a right hand turn and the car just died. I have noticed a strange noise coming from the timing belt area, but I already check the belt. Its still intact. I noticed the fuel pump isnt priming and the car just cranks over. Its back at my house and Im wandering where to start. I dont think CW is an issue because its auto, AND we just replaced the rods and Mains and everything was still in spec about 5k ago.
I forgot to mention my buddy took my car for a joyride and stated he revved it to about 4k and dropped it into "D" and it "burned all four tires"
I just about hit him in the face, but this was about a week ago and the tranny seemed fine up until about a day or two ago.
I have already checked fuses and the obvious. I am stumped. If anybody knows of anything that could cause the tranny issues and then the sudden no fuel no fire please chime in.
Sorry for the long write up I just figured it would be easier than carrying on for weeks with this thread. Im already looking into a rebuild on the tranny EVEN IF it ends up being seals/valve body etc. I have a feeling it isnt hard parts.
Thanks In Advance,
