215/40/17 on 17x7 rims?
I am looking to buy a set of rims with tires and dont know what size im looking for?

ok first off i'd like to say that i did do multiple searches and came up with information that only made me more confused. I want to put a set of 17x8" wheels with 38mm offset 5x114 and 245/45/17 tires. will this fit on my stock 2g or is there something else i need like wheels spacers?

Take a look here. 235 rubbed on my car so I had to roll my rear fender.

personally i would not do it, 235 is the widest i would go, and with the 38mm offset you prob would need to roll ## fenders so you do not rub as greengoblin did

Yea 245 is too big. 235 is alright, but it will take a little work.

Please answer the following questions when requesting tire size recommendations.

1. My car is a:
a) 1g DSM
b) 2g DSM

2. My wheel size is: stock. This is the size i want to put on

3. My current or future suspension height will be lowered

Ok so i can't run the rims i posted without rolling the rear fenders and changin the rear camber. what would be the widest tire i can run without having to roll the fenders and adjust camber?

just use 225 tires and be on the safe side then you wont have to worry about anything or get a different offset rim and use 235s safely

I run 17"x8" rims with a 38 offset and 205/50 tires with no problems. I am going to bump it up to a 225/45 when it is time to get new rubber and I shouldn't have any problems.

Hey, now. You said before you would roll your fenders.

It's not the wide tires that require camber adjustment, it's the lowering. You said your car would be lowered an inch.

225's on +45 offset.

Sorry if i mislead you. i don't plan on droping my car at all. it just didnt have a place to put stock ride height. and i would roll the fenders if i had to. just trying to get an idea of what tire and rim combo i can run without haveing to deal with more headaches then nessecary.

I wouldn't take my chances with 235's. 225's you won't have any trouble for sure.

Thats the same size that came stock on the 2ga TSI. It will fit.

Yeah thoughs will fit. You could even go a little wider if you wanted. 215 are nice.

I had 225/45/17 on my 2G eclipse. So if you wanted to go wider you could. What kind of tires are you looking at getting?

Those will fit with no problem, but as to if you should buy two more, it depends on how good the tires are. If they are brand new and a good brand name I would, but if they aren't, I would think about going with a 215/45/17. It is a little wider and taller which would help with getting hooked up when you launch.

Sell them and get the right size: 215/45/17 or 225/45/17.

The 205/40R17 will be almost 1.5" too short and cause your speedometer to read 5.7% too fast. That will also cause you to rack up 5.7% more miles that you actually traveled.

Yeah they will. You can always check of tirerack for sizes if you aren't sure. They will give you the correct size for tires on any rim.
