2g Wheels and Tires Size Questions [merged] fit fitment

215's will work on a 7" wheel, but what you really want to learn is if it'll throw off your speedometer at all.

Here's a tire size calculator

also, go to either discount tire or tire rack for tires... not ebay. they don't have plans that'll cover flats or blown up tires.

well i was looking for some answers for my question but i couldnt find anything

im thinking to buy (front ) 225/45ZR-17 Yokohama AVS dB S2 for a 3g eclipse rims,

but im afraid to be hiting fenders with those 225's ,so do i really gonna hit the fenders with those or not??? thanks alot...

Now that i think about it i might have 40's. you should def go with 45's or 50's. any competant tire shop will let you know which size you need so that you wont mess with your speedometer. Im pretty sure tirerack.com or other similar company will tell you online which tires to go with based on your rim size/width.

I have 235/40/18 and there is no rubbing, although it is insanely close. My car is not lowered.

Stick with 225-45-17. Back when my car had Eibach Sportlines and my winter 17"s, I had no rubbing and they filled the wheel gap perfectly.

I now have 225-40-18 for summer with no rubbing issues, but I can adjust my ride height.

Rubbing will be directly proportional to the offset of the wheels and the amount of lowering. I have 17 x 7's with 225/45/17's dropped 1.6 inches and I have no rubbing whatsoever on a +42 offset wheel. get us some dimensions and we can make a better recommendation. If you do step down from a 50 to a 45, the speedo will be off, but only slightly. I believe it's about 2-3 mph but I'm not sure. I just re-set mine after taking it on the highway and timing a full mile using markers and a stopwatch.

I searched for this before, I know the bolt pattern is the same, but the offset is what confuses me. I have never bought wheels or tires before so this is all new to me. Im sure most of you have seen questions like this before, but I really want to ask so I am possitive before I spend any money. Thanks

Yes, they will fit. You'll want 225/45/17 or 235/45/17 tire on those.

Ok, quick question. Will 225/40/18 tires rub my wheel wells on stock ride height?

YES! Check the VFAQ also for fitment issues! WHy would you ride around with upgraded wheels at stock height?

I have the same tire size on stock ride height with absolutely no problems. You are good to go

i will be getting a 96 talon tsi awd soon and i plan on getting eibach pro-kit springs and either kyb agx or illumina adjustables.i just ordered some rims that are 18x7 with +40 offset.i was wondering what tire size would you guys recomend.i found some 215/35/18 and 225/40/18,they are both z-rated.i was wondering which would provide best handeling with no rubbing.

with the 35, your ride is going to be bumpy as hell, but if its not a dd, then you really wont see a difference

what does dd mean?,im leaning more towards 225/40/18s but i dont know if it will rub if i drop it with the eibach pro-kit.would this be a good combo or will it rub.suggestions?

DD + Daily Driver.

I can't answer your rubbing question, but it's a very common one. Spend some time searching and I'm sure you'll find the answer.

Personally I would stay away from something with as little sidewall as the 225/35/18. Then again, I'd also stay away from 18" rims...

No...

With AWD applciations, the wheels and tires must be the same size on both the front and back axles. It'll ruin your drivetrain. You can always purchase wheels that have the staggered appearance. There are a couple, just try searching for ti, and yu might find it.
