2g Wheels and Tires Size Questions [merged] fit fitment

225's will flex/roll over a lot. IMHO the stock wheels are too narrow. I'd consider upgrading to wider wheels.

If you run 225's with low pressure you'll do ok in a straight line, but there isn't much you can do lateraly. If you increase the pressure to stiffen the sidewalls, 225's will crown pretty severly on a stock wheel.

If you decide to run wider tires you need to use a lower profile tire becuase the rear tires rub in the fender walls - espcially if you have the car lowered.

You know our cars are not the lightest things on the street (AWD especailly). Especially so for auto cross, you need to maximize lateral grip, PERIOD. This is also true for safety onthe roads. Our brakes and tires are easily over taxed by the heavy weight and mushy stock suspension we're saddled with so improving on those points can only help. I run 235/45/17 Falken GR Betas on EVO VIII Enkies, and the control is leaps and bounds better than my old 225/40/18 Kumho Ecsta crap on 30 sum-odd pound Konig rims. Break away is very progressive, responce actually better than the 40 series Kumho, and grip is much improved. I have validated this today by avoiding a very close call accident. When I wanted to corner hard, the car did what I wanted. My advise is to log on to some EVO forums, and see if you can't p/u a used set of EVO rims with low mileage YOKO advan A046's on em (the evo guys say there is hardly a tire out there that can beat em for high performance street/autocross). Trust me you'll appreciate it in the parking lots!:thumb:

I'd like to get a set of 215 but Fuzion doesn't make them. Right now I just really don't have the $$$ to throw down on a new set of wheels also.

I just got some Fusion 225 45 17 on my new bronze rims yesterday and I love them. 120 bucks a tire and they have a 40,000 mile warranty, bridgestone makes them. They are a little dirty but here are some pics. I got the rims new for 359 shipped.

Tell me what you think.

ok nevermind I cant get my pic to load up on the site

Ok I'm planning on buying some 18x7.5 rims with +40mm offset. In the future I plan on lowering my car with the Eibach Pro-kit Springs.

Should I go with 225/40/18? Think I could bump it up to 235?

If anyone here has a 2g with the pro-kit springs and 18s, please post your offset and tire size and if you had to modify anything to get them to fit.

Thanks

Well from everything Ive read I should be fine going with 235. But Ive been searching and can't really find anything on what effects lowering your car has on choosing your wheel/tire size. Surely it makes a difference.... I don't know I'm still a noob on this subject(and most others at that).

Basically I was hoping for others using the Eibach Pro-kit Springs to share thier experiances and what they have been able to do.

ok so i got some evo8 enkei rims. the stock tire size is 235/40?45?/17. not too sure about the sidewall.

im going to get new tires for it, but i want to know what the best tire setup for a low car? im planning to drop it more than 2 inches or more(megan coilovers), and i dont want rubbing. is this possible?

I tried searching and couldnt find if this size would fit.
215/40/17 on 17x7 rims?
I am looking to buy a set of rims with tires and dont know what size im looking for?
Please help, thanks.

I imagine 225's would work just fine on those rims, so you could go bigger. I run 215/50/17's on 17x6.5 rims. I can't comment on fitment on the car.

okay thanks... i dont knwo the offset on these rims, but the guy thats selling the ones im looking at says they came off of his accord (05 or 06 I think)..
Also what do each of the numbers mean? (sorry im a total wheel noob :p)
Thanks again.

Anybody jump in if I mess this up...

225 = width of the tire in millimeters
45 = tire height in percentage of width (so 45% of 225mm)
17 = Size of the rim (inner lip) and tire in inches.
Offset = Distance from the middle/center of the rim where the face of the hub and rim meet. IE: 40mm (common size), 46mm (stock size), 38mm (stock Evo offset), etc... Hope I got that right. Offset always screws me up.

But wheel width is integral to offset also. So if you have a wider wheel I believe you need less offset?

Hi, I am looking into some new rubber, for 17"s or 18"s, and what would be the best bang for the buck on each size wheel. I know the tire size that I would get and I have been looking into the yokohama peroda spec 2 or the BFGoodrich KDW2. Also, I have hankook ventus 2 right know and would these be just as good as the other two? Thank you Ryan

Well, I can't really provide a whole lot of info here, however, Im running the stock 16 in swirlies with Toyo Proxies. I love the way they grip the road. They spin quite easily, however Im FWD, so anything short of slicks are going to spin. In the snow, well, they suck ass, hoever in the rain, AWESOME:thumb: By far the best tire I have ever had in the rain. I remember not being able to see more than 2 feet in front of one day driving home in the rain, and everyone was either on the side of the road becuase they couldn't see or in the dictch because they where hydroplaning, But I was doing about 55 in the worst rain I have ever seen in my life, and I felt very comfortable driving, with very little "pulling" you expirience with extremely wet conditions. They diplace A LOT of water, No one likes to be behind me when its wet because I usually have a good 50 to 100 foot rooster tail of water.

If it were me Id go 17 with Falken RT-615...but thats me. My best advice is go to www.tirerack.com and look through the reviews, there are 1000s.

I would recommend not going with the Paradas, they are more show then anything.

If youve got some cash, then throw down for a set of Bridgestone Pole Positions.
