2g Wheels and Tires Size Questions [merged] fit fitment

They should fit perfectly without any problems. Now, if the wheels were 18" or bigger you might have a problem but they're 16's so don't worry about it.

No, no, no. Don't respond to tech questions if you don't have a clue. If they are stock Itrepid tires they are about 7% bigger than stock dsm.

If I'm not mistaken, the stock Intrepid tires are 225/60/16 and the 2g dsm tires are 205/55/16.

The intrepid tires Are bigger but they should still fit with no problems. I guess the easiest way to find out for youself is to slap them on, it doesn't really take a long time to do.

Hey Guys searched throughout the threads and have not seen my specific question. I have a 95 Tsi FWD I am have alot of traction problems, and was wondering if I could replace the factory 205 55 r16's to 215 50 R16s or 225 50 r16's without having rub problems when I turn. Basically I am trying to get as my traction as possible without causing damage. Any ideas?

your best bet is to just get some nice sticky tires. My friend ran 225/50/16's on his 92 AWD with no problems.

you should be able to run 235's without a problem. they aren't that much wider than the 225's and the 225's clear like nothing. 245's might be pushing it a little bit though.

edit: i guess it also depends on how low your car is, but it still shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Please name one 235 tire that is spec'd to fit an a 6-inch wheel.

On a six-inch wheel 205's are already very wide. 215's are max for all practical purposes. Many have used 225's but handling will likely suffer. Your best bet, as DSMcamaro suggested, is stickier tires in a reasonable width.

i read it wrong, i thought he had 18's for some reason. that's completely my fault, i apologize.

also any ideas in comparing 55 vs 45 series tires...like how many inches difference is that...

My friend just purchased some 17's and I was wondering what is the general recommendation for the tire size. It is strictly a a daily driver.

Rims are ADR Sokudos 17X7

Hey guys,
Im new to the DSM family, I just got my 98' GS-T spyder. I had a Dodge Stealth for a long time and it finally died and a DSM seemed like a better idea. My question is, can I put my tires from my stealth on the stock rims of the eclipse? The tire size is 225/55/R16?

Thanks

Eh, not necessarily. What size are stealth wheels? If they are 6", your correct but if they are like a 16x6.5 or 16x7, they should fit just fine with not much sidewall flex.

My model shows that 225/55/16 would barely fit on stock offset (46mm, same as Stealth). I think you will find that most manufacturer specs list 6" as the lowest rim width for 225/55/16's, but Steve is right, you would be better off with the Stealth wheels. Either way it would not exactly be a performance improvement. You would loose a lot of torque and in the case of using your 6" wheels, you would gain a lot of sidewall flex.

I made the mistake of putting 225/55/16 on my Diamante which also uses the Mitsu standard 6" wide rims but normally gets a 215/60/16 so the diameter isn't off much. The 225's are just too wide for the rims making the sidewalls really mushy. I've been looking for some cheap 3S rims or a new set of tires. I could always put these on one of my Stealths.

Steve

I'm in the market to get a new set of tires for my 98 GST. I still am and still will be using the stock wheels. The car will be my daily driver with lots of spirited driving, occasional trip to the drag strip, an autox or two, and quite a bit of mountain road pounding. What size would you guys perfer for me that would help me really stick in the corners without it having side wall flex/roll and overall just sticking to the road? I'm going to go wtih a 50/16 but just cant decide if i should get a 225 or 205? I'm going with a set of Fuzion ZRi's.
