There is a 2g 02 housing sitting in the junkyard of a 95 gs-t. Is it worth the 10$ the yard will charge me to get it for my 1g or am I fine with my original housing. Could'nt find to much about this comparison, well didnt find anything.

According to the VFAQ, the 2G housing flows more air. I have 2 spare housings that differ in size, but I'm not absolutely positive where they come from. I'm about 99% certain the one on the right is for a 1G, and if the one on the left is a 2G, I'd pick it up for $10. BTW, have a fun time getting it off. ;)

EDIT: FOLKS, THESE ARE BOTH 1G HOUSINGS!

EDIT: Nate is quicker to the draw... by a whole 7 minutes... good thing it wasn't a duel...

Its rusted and filled with carbon but i figured that since its out i cant get ride of that all and powder coat it. From the chart it looks like a good idea then.

BTW, have a fun time getting it off. ;)

Its already off just sitting in the back of the eclipse:DROFL

I forgot to leave out im still running my little 13g if that makes a diffrence.

Brian, Those are both 1g housings based on the o2 sensor location. On the 1g housings it is near the top while on the 2g housings it is at the bottom by the DP flange. It looks like one is stock and the other has been ported.

I wouldn't get an o2 housing powder coated. It will still burn off. If you want to get it coated consider ceramic coating. Also I doubt you need the extra flow that a 2g housing will provide while running a 13g but it will still help if you have plans to upgrade turbos later on.

Consider leaving them a small tip! LOL

Should be fine.

Good to know! I've been wondering this for a while. Now I get to figure out where the hell I got the ported one from and if my 2G has a 2G housing or not. :p

1G and 2G o2 housings are indentical in every way aside from o2 sensor location and a *slightly* larger o2 passage on the 2G housing.

Installing one over the other in unported form will yield no increase in performance whatsoever.

I would till go witht he 2g 02 housing..Even tho justing says it won't flow any better it actually might..

If you have a dremel and a perting carbide bit..I would port the 2g 02 housing for a little better flow..'

On the 13g tho It's not gonna help that much but anything is better than the stock one..Even a manual 1g should potentially flow better than the stocker..I have my stock 1g auto 02 housing and a manual sitting around somewhere..And the last time I looked at them the 1g auto 02 housing was smaller than the manual, vs 2g 02housing..

But it Is going to be a PITA to swap them out..

On a 1G all it's going to do is move the o2 sensor to a place that streches the wiring and is in the way of the alternator / oil filter. Unless the 2G housing is already ported, there's no benefit at all.

Incorrect- all 1G o2 housings are the same. The manifold and turbine housing are smaller on 1G autos, and that is all.

Also good to know. Thanks for the expertise, Justin.

I wonder if we can get the model comparison chart to say something in the lines of "negligible size difference", then. Seems a bit misleading as is.

Man I could have sworn the auto 02 housing was smaller than the manual...DAMM...I mean why not they made the auto manifold smaller than the manual..Unless they just didn't want to make a different part for the 02 housing..LOL..Which I can understand..

But good to know..

I personally wouldn't even waste my time on a 13g car. Just wait until you upgrade your turbo and do it all in one shot. It would save time and money anyway. *shrug*

The o2 housing is post-turbine, so it has little to no effect on the turbo's spool characteristic....at least not as much as the turbine housing or manifold would.

I want a 16g eventually (EVENTUALLY the way my hours are cut thay my not be for a while) I thought of porting it out and it would be easier if I had one out while still running the other in my car.

If you're getting a Small 16G or Big 16G the outlet of the turbine housing is the same spec as the 13G / 14B so the only thing you'll need to port is the outlet of the o2 housing, where the downpipe connects.

If you're getting an Evo III 16G the outlet of the turbine housing is much larger, so you may want to consider getting an Evo III o2 housing or one of the stainless Megan o2 housings to save yourself a ton of grinding. It may take a couple hours of porting to remove enough material to bring make a 1G or 2G o2 housing large enough to fit an Evo III turbine housing.

I have not got that far yet so im not sure, I was thinking evoIII but i want what ever is better. BUT i dont have the money so im not worried about it now, I guess I will just let it sit out there if there really is no need for it then I was not sure if it would benefit me or not.

What ever will befit me the most, I dont want a rediculesly huge turbo but I dont want my tiny 13g either

I've had a 13g,and 16g..Then next thing I'm going to try before going back to the 16g is a 14b..It flows more than the 13g, but way less than the 16g..And for you on the auto, with the shift box you will notice a little bit more butt dyno with the 14b than the 13g..

Now the 16g at WG pressure is sure a kick in the pants from a 13g..But this is why I'm going to try the 14b, before going back to a 16g..

The EVO III 16g is by no mean a "huge" turbo, it might have been considered a moderately sized turbo waaay back in the day. But now most people would all class it as a small turbo. It's not that laggy either since it had a little more R&D put into it, and it's lighter weight. Honestly I see no reason to go with any other 16g. The benifits of the EVO III 16g outweigh any drawbacks in my mind.

If your THAT concerned about spool go with a 14b, it will be a good upgrade over that 13g and still spool so stupid fast it seems completely liniar. If you want more than a 14b can offer though just go with the Evo III.

P.S. I actually would NOT recommend an evo III o2 housing, the angle it bolts up to the DP is different than all the others, and it's a bi*** to get it to line up well enough to get it to seal...ask me how I know....more wasted money *roll eyes* It CAN be done, but it's a bit of a PITA to get it to seal without modding your DP. Although if I recall correctly I think RRE makes a DP intended for mating to the Evo III o2 housing. Might check into that if your interested in going that route. That and if your stuck on the 14b, consider a 7cm2 hot side too, doesn't really drop spool but lets it setup flow better up top. Only reason I could see to stick with the 6cm2 housing would be if your planning on doing something like small tracked AutoX stuff...but I doubt thats something your wanting to do with an automatic trans car.

@Bud92gsx i have a road surge box, 14b with fp header and stock 02 and downpipe/cat and it hits full boost (14psi for me) at about 3100 and holds hard to red with much room for improvent. ;)
