Hey all,

I have a 97 TSi (as seen in my profile)

It's got 85,000 miles and there is some shaft play in the compressor side of the turbo (as that's all I can see) and I'm just looking to freshen up and rebuild the turbo.
I believe this is a T25 turbo. I see rebuild kits on eBay for around $60. Has anyone ever purchased one of these kits that can leave feedback or have another seller with high quality parts?

Also looking to paint my valve cover, see gaskets on eBay, I'm assuming a gasket is a gasket?

Thanks

as far as ebay do not buy any parts from their if you plan on them lasting. you get what you pay for and a gasket is not a gasket use oem gaskets if you are not going to leave the car stock dont even bother rebuilding the t25 buy a 14b or 16g you will be way happier

I would not trust an ebay rebuild kit. Some had great results with them but they are cheap for a reason. There is also a difference between ebay valve cover gasket and fel-pro/oem gaskets. I read on here somewhere somebody got an ebay valve cover gasket and did't even last a good miles on them. The rubber turned hard and wouldnt seal anymore after just a few miles. They ended up switching to fel-pro and worked out great for them...

Contact Jusmx141 to see if he can give you a tip on a rebuild kit and better yet how about you let him rebuild it for you?

I got my holset turbo rebuilt by him and he is excellent. Ill do business with him again for sure. A nice guy.

Here is where I got my rebuild kit for my EVOIII. G-Pop Shop
They are very helpful, The kit comes with instructions, and they give technical support via phone.
I send them my turbo after rebuilding it, to get balanced, and they only charged me the shipping which it didn't need balancing, I might did a good job on that.LOL

Just, make sure you give them a call before ordering, so you get the right Kit.

I would advice to get a used (in good condition) turbo, or give a call to Justin, It will be cheaper and you will have some $$ to spend on something else. :sneaky:
