Well i have the heat and the cd player going i leave the stop light hit a little bit of boost to keep up to my buddy's tsi i let off the throttle and i look down and notice my car is off WTF OK i start to pull over when i notice smoke coming form the hood so i quickly stop get out pop the hood and it seemed to have come from the firewall area noitced a little inside the car. I check for leaks or damage anything like that and i do not find anything . Ok i tell me self maybe i can limp it back home i get in turn the key all the dash lights are on try and start and it clicked like it was getting a bad connection so i check my battery and notice it seemed to have touched my sway bar or something after that one click i have no power to anything no headlights no interior lights no dash lights no power to windows nothing works so i try jumping it see it that works nothing still the same even though there was power going through the cables also was a another dsm trying to jump me. Well that didn't work so i grab my battery from my 91 talon that has a good working red top battery put it in tighten everything down and still nothing still no power to anything . I am lost confused and stressing as my car is sitting on the road . with the window cracked open because i cant roll it up . Someone ### help me. p.s this happen like 30 mins ago

Check your main fuse... Car might be grounding out when the battery hits something... Make sure the termanals are clean and have a good connection also... Start with the simple things...

If your car is stock, there are 2 fuses right at the terminal battery (+), take them off and inspect them, Don't just look at them, take them off, inspect them and put them back on, some times they looks good but once you remove them, they come apart.

Get a tester, Check power at the battery, then check power at the terminal, then fallow the terminal wire (+) see where it connects and check power after where it connects, keep fallowing the line to see where you have power and where you don't have.

It sounds like you blow the main fuse, It is located at the fuse box (engine bay), open the box and you will see 2 fuses on the left side of the box, one for the alternator (100amp) and one for the main power (60 or 80amp), take them both out and inspect them.

Here is a pic, Just read your fuse box because there are 2 different boxes on our 2gs.

so you guys think i fired my main fuse then? we are going to replace both the main and alternator fuses tomarrow. Any clue as to the cloud of smoke that came from the hood. I mean there was smoke even in the interior somthing idk its puzzling even worse as i had to leave it parked on the street

I did something similar when my batt shorted to ground and car died. Tried starting it and no power, left it for a couple minutes then it started up?.. Not sure if there is a self resetting circuit breaker that cooled down or what..but u might have blown a fuse.gl keep us posted..

update found a fired ground wire running from my intake manifold. was burnt and broken replace it wit a new ground new main fuse and alternator fuse . still no power nothing :barf: ....Any thoughts on what to do next ???

Need to look @ wiring diagram and start checking for power from the batt to the fuse then whatever is next on diagram, ignition switch think.

Well, the only way we can help you out is for you to help us out, so lest start from the beginning.

Which areas you have checked and tested to see if there is power?.

I can see you have stated you don't have power to the switch and non of the inside components, but have you check if you have power to the main switch and if you have power to the fuse box inside the car?,

Have you check if there is power where you replaced the fuses?,
Do you have power on all or just part of the Main fuse box?,

Have you take all the fuses out inspect them and put them back in the main fuse box?.

Telling us that you don't have power inside the car doesn't help us at all which we don't know what you have checked and where you have power and at what point you don't have power.

Believe me or not, But I wish to live close of you and help you out personally, It wouldn't take me more then an hour to figure it out and wouldn't take me more then half day to fix it.

Take a test light and check where you have power and where you don't have, (Start from the battery side and fallow the line).

There is a big wire that runs from the Main fuse box all the way to the inside fuse box (Junction box), this line feeds all the components inside the car, It has a 60amp fuse, so saying that, look for the 60amp fuse at the main fuse box, It should be under fusible link #2 or some sore of that, This is the line that runs all the way to the inside of the car (Junction fuse box), Check the fuse and check if there is current, if the fuse is good and there is current on both sides of the fuse, then go inside of the car and check under the junction box to see if the wire has current, If the wire doesn't have current, then the wire it self is burned.

I don't know which main fuse box you have (there are 2 styles), so let us know which kind you have, does it looks like the one in the link that I posted before or is different then that one.

Let as know and some pics could help us to.

update.. car is running again after what i posted of what i put in. I volt tested everything and i had a current running to every metal surface . So we just the battery posts both had power but when i touch the grounds running to the neg post. It was dead current cleaned them up tighten down and bam she fired rite up!!!:thumb: thanks guys for all your input!.
