2g top similar as 3g

was up guys i just a have very beat up spyder and the top is all messed up i was wondering if the top frame could be interchanged my left rear arm on the top is broken and i found a 3 g on the junk yard with a perfect top but before i went to the trouble i wanted to see if anyone knew if they were interchangeable

I tried looking up some information on this, and I highly doubt they are interchangeable. It would probably take some custom fabrication. I know its not junk yard prices, but these are reasonable: 1996-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder Convertible Tops and Convertible Top Parts Hope this helps

well according to caps you cant buy that arm on the 3g separate but damm it looks awfull close in shape and lenght

and judging by the shape of the quarte window the angles look just about right

Looks like im in the same boat. Can the weather stripping that seals upper window edge to the top be purchased and replaced individually? My top is fine but those seals are toast.

Same boat i wish i had your problem. The only dealer that has my part wants 450 for it i can get this complete top for 200.

I am just suprised that there not any ex mitsu techs in here that can give a few pointers.

The tops look the same side by side and the latches up front look like they can be made to work but let me tell you the 00 up top looks very stout and better build quality when compared to ours.

If nobody has any idea i am going back to the junk yard this weekend again and take some measurements and let you guys know

The tops from 3g spyders are the same iirc.

That does look close!

I wonder if this is along the lines of the Mustang top. the 94-98 top will fit a 99-04 and vise versa; but the body styling is different.

Will be interesting to know, as the 3g cars are more common in salvage yards from what i've seen.

I know from past questioning of the forum the weather stripping that goes on the edge where the window mate isn't made by Mitsubishi and more. As far as the 3g top hewing interchangeable I don't know but would also be highly interested to know if it does or not.

Well guys i took some measurements and they are very very close like they can work type of close my only problem would be if the mounting points are different so ill let you guys know on sat when i remove it from the junkyard car.

Did you ever get back to the junkyard?
I have the same opportunity. I found an 03 and it looks like it would fit but if you've already done the leg work I would like to know before I go through it.
