so a friend of mine gave me a set of lifters that he said are better than the 1g lifters that ive always used. he said he cant remember if they were 2g or 3g tho. the 1g lifters i took out of my head have a tiny oiler hole, very small. the small hole lifters are extreamley tight to try to squeeze together. there stiff as hell all of them. the new lifters my buddy gave me have a HUGE oiler hole. and all of the big hole lifters are super easy to compress and squish togther. my question is, are these lifters bad? are they sopossed to squeeze together this easily? im uncertian which is better to use the small hole stiff lifters of the big hole softer lifters? any info or advice please

Yes. If they're hard to squeeze, then they are going bad. This is what causes that fast "tickticktick" when you're idling. Lifters are supposted to be "smooth" as far as in and out movement.

**After lifters are filled with oil, they should be near incompressible.

You should use newer revised lifters with a bigger oiling hole. Topline makes a good revised lifter. I got my entire set for less then $75 on ebay. BNIB

so you would use the big hole soft lifters over the small hole hard to squish lifters?

Yes. You want your engine to run smooth. Think of it as trying to chew a lot of peanut butter (or taffy) vs an orange (or something of that nature). Which is easier to chew and easier on your teeth? Its not tha greatest analogy, but it should give you an idea.

+1. I've been looking into those for my new engine. I've heard nothing but good things! :)
