I have got 2g pistons on 1g rods and i am wondering is there antything that needs to be done to the crank other than getting it balanced and what else if so. Also is balancing the crank completely necessary to do because i dont have very much money. The car had 140000miles on it, Thanks

i would like to get this finished soon cause i dont have a car to drive right now so anyone please help. Thanks

Balancing the rotating assembly is recommended, but not necessary.

yeah i already got that stuuf off of vfaq but i was more asking about getting the crank balanced. I dont think i will do it then cause it doesnt seem bad the only reason i am rebuilding it is cause a valve broke and while i had it open i thought what the hell. but the car i have been driving just died so now i am trying to throw it together quick. The bearings dont look bad at all so i will probably not get it balanced. My understanding is that the rods are pressed on the pistons and i have to take them to a machine shop to get it done right. Sorry for asking another question . but thanks for the help

From the drawing it looks as though 7bolt rods should bolt into a 6bolt engine, but then why machine 6bolt rods to fit 7bolt pistons. Why not keep the 7bolt pistons on 7bolt rods and put them in the 6bolt engine?

6 bolt rods are thicker at the neck and wider at the crank end. Rods are not interchangeable between the cranks.
