2G pistons onto 1G rods.......

Hey guys......I just took a set of 1G pistons/rods and a set of 2G pistons/rods to the machine shop and the guy waned me that pressing off old pistons will more than likely break the skirts or distort the piston itself . I was just wandering since SO many people out there have swapped out these two if anyone has ever had this happen or if it's just a precaution that he was telling me. Anhyone out there done this and had problems?....no problems?

Ive never heard of this, if I was you I would go to another machine shop and see what they say. Look for someone who does mitsubishi's. I had mine done with no problems.

Yea.....I think it's just that he is not all that familiar with Mitsu engines. But he is the best damn machinst in our area!! He's been doing all the pistons and all the boring/cleaning for all of my family for like 8-9 years now and never done anything wrong. I'm gonna stick it out, I think that he wasjust warning me for safety. If they break, I'll just have it bored and go .020 over and get the SBR kit for $200 that comes with everything.....I'll onlt be out the $50 for my pistons. But thanks man....appreciate the feedback .

Actually people always reuse pistons. Would you buy $500 forged pistons and through them away because you burnt a ring. I dont think I would.

Re-using pistons should be alright as long as its not a set of 200k mile pistons or something.
