1g rods w/ 2g pistons

well 4th rod didn't get enough oil... b/c i had a gs dipstick that was about 3 inches too long. had a 6 bolt laying around and i'm going to put the rods in. the rod(7bolt) was egged bad but the crank wasn't hurt. just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. i'm very mechaniclly inclined and it shouldn't be a problem, but you never know. thanks

Well instead of starting a new thread I will work from this one. I am in the same position and have read lots of posts about 1G rods and 2G pistons but all in 6 bolt blocks. I know the rod has to be machined to fit the 2G pistons but do you need special rod bearings or are the cranks the same diameters? The information would be much appreciated and thanks in advance.
