2g offset rim questions

I got these awhile back and been thinking about running 245/40/17 on these.
They are Enkei RP02's 17x8 40 et. BTW i came across this evo with the bbs wheels and he was running 245/40/17 on the 17x8 bbs's and it doesnt look like it bulges out too much.

Gamble97, I honestly think youll rub with a 235/55/16 with the 48mm offset. Thats a taller/wider tire then a 225/50/16 and i was already close to the knuckle with the 225/50/16 not to mention the variations in sizes from the tire manufacturer

Got pics?

Thanks Daren, I guess 16x7 +40mm will be the way to go. Will it stick out any or be flush with the car? I'm still undecided on what size tire to run. I love my 225s but if I can get away with a 235 I would love it and I want something tall. I want lots of rubber on the car.

Guess I'm abit late getting back to the party but a +40mm offset & a 8" rim will basically put you flush with the side of the car. I probably don't have any real good shots but in my gallery, the black rims/chrome lips are 18 x 8, +40mm offfset, with 235/40/18 rubber.

I did roll my fender lips for abit of extra clearance & have something like 3-4mm clearance on the inner knuckle. I'm using the 95-96 style rear knuckle that doesn't have as much room for tire clearance vs the 97+ style (believe I'm quoting the correct years, its been a couple years).

Edit: Actually I don't have any current shots in my gallery, so the tires are 225/40/18 in those shots, not my current 235's.

I looked at mine current setup 225/45/17 17x7 +40mm and it's damn close to the spindle. So if I got a +48 in a 17x7 I'm sure it would hit the spindle. I'm not doing rims, I may be parting the car out.

Great choice on the wheel. I like the 225/45R-18 personally, little taller than OE but looks much better. Also will protect your wheels as it will carry the load of the car much better than the 40 series.

Will the 225/45/18s fit on a +45mm offset wheel? From everything I'm reading a 40 is as tall as you can get without rubbing up to like +39mm or something. I would LOVE to get the extra 5mm of sidewall height, but I'm paranoid about ordering tires that don't fit on my 2g.

By the way, I have the exact size wheels as fast orange above 18x7.5 +45mm

I'm trying to find this out as well! Except I have a +35 offset.

I have attached pics of how mine looks with 40 series tire on 18 dropped with coilovers. Now you guys think a 45 series would fit nicer? And not rub? I plan on raising it a bit more to fit the 45 series. In the last pic, you can see the side to side gap, in which I want to fill in. The reason I want the 45 series is for looks. I love how 225/45/17s look. It fits nicely when dropped. I also want a taller sidewall for a better ride.

If you want to stick with skinny baby tires like 225's then you can run that high of an offset (+45-48). Im running 255/40/17's on my 17X8 wheels +38 and like a 1.5" drop with my ground controls. If you want a 17X8 with anything higher than a 40 offset your really restricted to a herra stretch 235 if that. Personally i like big wide tire on some nice wheels more than that "slammed look" But that's just me.

With 225/50R-17 my 17x8 +45mm rubbed the rear springs. I had to make about a 5MM - 6MM spacer to clear back there.
