Would a 16x8 +48mm offset on a slammed 2g be too much?
or should I go 16x7 +40 or 16x7 +45?

I'm looking at 16" rota slips.

Funny you ask, I test fit my new wheels last night. 16x7 +42mm. This wheel leaves about 10mm between the inner lip and front spindle. The 16x8 +48mm will be roughly 22mm further inside. These will hit the spindle about 12mm before the wheel contacts the face of the rotor. I would choose the 16x7 +40mm.

Hope this helps.:thumb:

+48 is going to tuck the rims in pretty good, even more so then the stock offset. Depends on tire size/overall diameter but you'll probably be limited to something like a 225 wide, max & even that may rub the inner knuckle. 40mm is an ideal offset, no matter what the size of the rim. This give you nice centering between the knuckle & fender lip to allow the most rubber.

guys i tried searching before but got no answer, what about 18x8 with a 45mm offset? Just wondering if there is a program or calculator that will help determine what will and will not work for our cars

Re-read my post above, pay special attention to: 40mm is an ideal offset, no matter what the size of the rim

Without an idea of what tire size your looking for, no-one can tell you what will fit or not. As said +40mm offset is ideal & just about centers the rim between the knuckle & fender lip. You run a +45mm offset & your pushing the rim/tire closer to the knuckle 5mm. Can you run that size of rim? sure. Will it rub? Can't say unless we know what size of tire you plan on running.

Got pics?

Thanks Daren, I guess 16x7 +40mm will be the way to go. Will it stick out any or be flush with the car? I'm still undecided on what size tire to run. I love my 225s but if I can get away with a 235 I would love it and I want something tall. I want lots of rubber on the car.

I will take some for you tonight.

By the way, for anyone who has a particular fitment question, tire and wheel fitment is my job. I take phone calls all day from 400+ tire stores asking what wheels fit what cars. FYI.:thumb:

I have a 17x8 +45mm at home I will test fit tonight as well. I do not think this will fit though.

let us know because if the 8inch width and 45mm offset works ill get those motegis ion the 18x8. otherwise ill go with the 17x7 with 40mm offset. I just like the look of a bigger wheel and less tire.

I will post it up.

I can tell you all that 18x8.5 +30mm with 225/45R-18's fit stock with a minor rr fender lip trim and fit with Eibach pro kit with just a kiss on the front outside fender lip. Looks soooo nice though!

With my camber settings it rubbed alittle on the fenders. Fixed that by rolling the fenders. On the inside its about a 1/4" clearance from the tire to the knuckle. I only have these pics for now

Very nice. I like the fit.

I also stand corrected on the 17x8 +45mm or 18x8 +45mm. Fits with room for some sidewall between the spindle and the inside lip. Will post the pics in the AM.

This also goes for the Slip's. The 16x8 with 48mm offset will also clear. again pics in the AM.

This was the perfect thread i needed to stumble on, Thanks!

I was looking at the EV5 (Hyper Black w/Machined Lip)
18x7.5 +45 offset and 225/40R18
Any opinions? its going on a black car.

Great choice on the wheel. I like the 225/45R-18 personally, little taller than OE but looks much better. Also will protect your wheels as it will carry the load of the car much better than the 40 series.

Ah should of mentioned im getting kyb agx's and eibach lowering springs not sure how big of a drop i can go with probably only a 1.3?

lowrider67Sabre-
16x8 +48 or 16x7 +40 or 16x7 +45 for 16" slipstream? And what tire? I want to run the biggest and fattest tire possible. I'm thinking 235. I don't want to roll the fenders.
And let me know what you can do for pricing.

16x8 +48mm
235/55/16

Maybe this will work. Wonder how it will look
