2G Noob Questions

Well here is my problem i have had quite a bit of experence with 1G but i am thinking about buying a 2G but the one im looking at is non-turbo. First off are all 2G Talons that are non-turbo have the 420a engine. Also i want to do a turbo/AWD swap what parts do i need and also can i just drop in the 4G63 engine with tanny, differential. ect or do i have to fab some mounts and what not

Yes all 2G non-turbos (excluding Spyders) come with the 420a.

As for the swapping. If you said you were buying a 2G FWD TURBO then, yes it would be worth the swap if you wanted a project. I could even give you a list to get the front done, as that is how far I am in the swap itself.

It is a GIGANTIC pain in the ass for the 4G63T swap in the first place. Let alone an AWD conversion. The custom fab you would have to do would be mind numbing.

I will just leave it with, if you have alot of money then do it. It would be a nice project to get lost in. If you want an easy swap then stay away.

but if i had a donor car wouldnt everything from it bolt on to the non-turbo i would have to think that the body was the same but the way the engine, tranny, ect sit in there. I wouldnt think that Mitsu/Eagle would change the body style just to fit the other stuff

even with a donor car it'll be easier to just buy a 2g AWD or at least a 2g turbo

they do not sit in there the same way. They are not even close to the same engine configuration. It is a completely different MONSTER with the 2g than the 1g, in reference to a turbo engine swap.


Find a shell to a banged up donor TURBO model 2g. You will have more luck with that and it should cost the same as a nonturbo donor type vehicle.

I think you guys got a little confused. I am taking a 2G donor car with all the parts on there and fitting them on the 2G talon im getting. The body is in excellent shape but i want to have a little go. Would i be better off building up the 420a motor than i would be with getting a 2G donor car and making it a "TSi"
