hey guys, i just got a hacked 2g mas shipped to me but there are no honeycombs in it. does the 2g mas need the honeycombs in order to run properly? I will be running an s-afc so maybe i can tune the safc in order to make up for the initial airflow of not having the honeycombs? what do you guys think, should i try to get my hands on the honeycombs?

don't bother. I tried it,and it was bad. Maxed out upgraded injectors, 50psi and a Wally 255. Easily.

Plus I asked several people who know (including Jeff Oberholtzer) and I was categorically told not to do it. the bone stock 2g maf is supposed to be good for 450whp.

what about the honeycombs from my 1g?

If you could find a way to trim them up to fit the 2g without damaging them i dont see why that wouldnt work. All their in there for is to make the airflow enter the mas as straight as possible other than entering from all different directions :talon:

i've got a 2g mas with one side honeycomb removed, stock fuel system aside from a fuel pump rewire. it runs ok on the cool evenings, but i get knock boosting hard on hot days. injectors are maxed at 95% D/C, I've actually seen 106% D/C on this setup as well. time for 550s or up the fuel pressure. :)

i wouldnt suggest using one with no honeycombs.

What about someone with 780's, safc and a wide band? It would be nice to lie to the computer without the safc.

What about running the mass gutted with an safc and some 660's? do you guys think i'll still be maxing out the injectors? and cant the safc make up for all the extra air coming in with the mass being gutted?

afc is not going to be able to make anything up if you dont have larger injectors to supply more fuel.

the afc just modifies the mas air signal for use in turning injectors up or down. maybe upwards in the range of 660s or 780s would work with a gutted mas, i would also bump up the fuel pressure as well (on a 1g) to push the injectors to the max.

Let's try this just once more:

A 2G MAS will not be happy without its honeycombs. The turbulence around the airflow sensor will raise all kinds of hell with its interpretation of the incoming air volume.

Try to find another MAS. They're not all that precious.
