Is it possible to use a 2G turbo maifold on a N/T? I am in the process of figuring out parts needed. If not why. Thanks

Ok, that works for me.

I went from stangs to eclpise long story. I pulled the motor to do a rebuild and want to understand turbos and 16g and 14g , internal waste gate vs external, crushed BOV and other stuff just is nice to learn and so on. Would like to put a turbo on. Any info to a complete rookie would be pretty nice.:coy:

Just for your knowledge, the 2g n/t and the 2g turbo have two completely different motors. The 2g n/t is a 420a manufactured by Chrysler and the 2g turbo is a 4g63, a mitsubishi motor.

You can actually bolt a Mitsubishi TDO5H turbo straight to the stock manifold. All of the bolts don't match perfectly (you'll only be able to use two out of the four bolts), it looks ugly, and it probably isn't the best configuration in the long run, but it can be done.

If you're new to turbochargers and you're looking to get one, you can help yourself by researching. Here's GSGoinFast's article about turbocharging his 420A (Eclipse N/T); it's great reference material, and it's pretty comprehensive too. If there's a part you're unsure of, type its name into the search bar here on DSMTuners.

So the bolt pattern is different hay. Are the runners the same? Im wondering if I can take a 2g turbo manifold and cur off the flang then weld it to a N/T flang or just cut a new flang out off 3/16 plate steel. My brothers a machinest who could cut one for me and I'd just weld it up. I seen a few threads on guys that made there own exhust maniflods.

It's possible, and it has been done before, but welding those cast iron manifolds is tricky. If you can do it though, go for it - I just don't recommend it as a permanent thing.

If you can weld, you should just make your own from scratch. Doing this is much more common, and probably less expensive then you think. You can buy both flanges for the manifold from turboflanges.com - that'll run you about $20-$30. Then buy two 1.5" steel tees and two 90 deg. elbows from McMasters-Car for about another $20-$30.

There! Now you have all the components of a basic log manifold for very little. If you weld well, it'll last quite a while. Good luck.
