hey guys. so i'm out side right now.
And i am having a lot of problems with my 2g,
i bought some lowering springs and i can't find out how to get the strut off so i can slide on the new spring. any help ?

i got every thing off its just when i try to put the new spring on.
it wont go on because there is the top part on it it is part of the strut on the rear a 2g.

its a part on the strut that is preventing me from taking off the stock spring and putting on the new one.

I think hes talking about the strut nut. Either use an adjustable wrench on the tip of the strut (if it has a flat spot cut into it) and use another to turn the nut. Or get an impact gun and get them off in 5 sec.

**** PLEASE USE A SPRING COMPRESSOR!!! ****

You need spring compressors to relieve the stress off the top hats of the struts to properly remove the nut that holds the hat to the top of the coil and dampening rod. You need a combination of two wrenches (can't remember sizes, i think 14mm comes to mind).

Please tell me you're using a set of spring compressors..It's impossible without them.

Got a camber kit to go with the springs? Mine is dropped 2 inches and the guy I bought it from didn't get one so now I gotta get it to get my car aligned properly

no. i do not have one.
i bought lowering springs that shouldn't need one. Im not slamming my car
i bought coil overs and i didn't like how low it was going to be so i just bought a 2" drop in back and front. i might have to get a alignment also tho .:D

i used one with a spring compresser but there is not that much stress on them and i found out you can do it with out one . YES it is very un safe!
But i was lazy.

I have never used a spring compressor. I have removed stock springs, and coil-overs on my DSM's without ever seeing the need for it. I Just jack up the car on the corner you are working on. Not saying that it is what you should do, but that's what I do.

I have just two inch lowering springs and even with just that you need a camber kit. I got an alignment and my camber was still messed up.

I dropped my car with Megan Racing lowering springs, which is about 2 inches. Got it aligned the day after and I'm not having any issues.

Yea, the price was good, and I've always heard really good things about them.

You're going to need a camber kit. I lowered my GST aprox 2" and I had some serious camber issues because I was too lazy to get an alignment.. I went through a new set of tires in less then a month.. I cant speak for the GSX but I know the GST you have to put spacers between the upper control arm in the rears. Theres also a front camber kit you can buy..

So that means he needs an alignment, not necessarily a camber kit. It depends on the camber he wants to run.

Like I said. I dropped 2", got an alignment, and my tires are fine.

That probably wasn't caused by only camber being out of spec. Your toe probably was too, which accentuated the negative camber and caused the wear. You can properly run negative camber as long as all of the alignment values are in proper spec.

Oh definately not saying you were, LOL. Just letting him know how to correct tow wear :)

i don't know i just installed all four springs and my tires/rims are not towed in at all. And i will need an aliment because it would just seem right to do .
i got my springs because i couldn't go wrong with the price.

Why is your tire like that ? did you not get a aliment?
