Hi all I was wondering if there are other knuckle options available for our 2g's? My goals would be to do away with the 2 lower ball joint assy that seems to cause a lot of headaches for us maybe better geometry and easier to do a brembo type of swap. I would like to have a less expensive and real lower ball joints.

My idea would be to take an evo 8 or 3g/4g type knuckle and strut combo and fab a lower control arm or could another mitsu lower control arm maybe bolt in? You could even eliminate the upper a arm in favor of a strut camber type adjustment. I see similar type things done on track cars. My ideas are not written in stone. Just wondering the possibilities without being too crazy.

My knowledge of mitsu interchangability is very small that's why I am seeking your vast knowledge and input. Maybe you have even better ideas than me. I'm open to your thoughts.

Im not sure what your goals are or what youre thinking itll help but it would be dumb and pointless. The 2g double wishbone has pretty decent geometries and switching to mac-strut would make it handle worse.

The ball joints arent very expensive to replace if you just order the kit ($110/side) which comes with both arms and the spindle.

I believe that evo 8 front knuckles will work with 2 g suspension. I have a friend who swapped out his entire front suspension (knuckle, and control arms) to be able to run the evo 8 brakes (big brembos). He used the SPC upper A arm though.

Absolutely not, he most likely used JDM galant vr-4 knuckles (evo8 knuckles will not bolt up) to get the brembos to match up to the 2g. SPC upper A-arms do not change the suspension design at all, it is made for a 2g style geometry configuration of which the JDM vr-4 has.

Secondly, absolutely no reason to go to a different knuckle, you have to replace ball joints anyway. My m3 has one control arm, and guess what the common failure piont is? The ball joint that connects to the frame, it becomes a stress point for sheering.
