2g AWD suspension options

I saw one other thread concerning this and I have been all over google, ebay, and supporting vendor's websites.

I have a 2g GSX and would love to know my options. I think TEIN is a name that I would have to pay for and there are equal/better options out there. I was thinking Ksport but I saw very few and the ones I did see did not mention the GSX (must be specific). I was looking at Megan as well since they are pretty decent as well. I would like a full coilover kit because I prefer the rideability of them and the quality is usually a bit better.

Feel free to post your setups and pics/opinions of ride quality and other such analyses (sp). I will be DD this car with autox each and every week. I might do a .5'' drop just to lessen that wheel gap but I am happy with the stance currently, so I am just looking into performance.

I want to run a full coilover setup; I.E. TEIN Flex, Ksport, Skunk2 (they don't carry them for our cars). I mean the shock and spring combo but as a "kit." I think my suspension is dead and need to replace it. The car has 170k on it after all.

I would disagree that a "full" coilover is going to be better quality. There is plenty of bad coilovers out there. (At least performance wise.) The ride is in the setup.

I run Ground Controls. When I had the 500F / 350R and the Konis adjusted for those rates, I'd drive to work in comfort everyday. I didn't "notice" the suspension. The best compliment a "performance" suspension can get. Mind you, this was also on stock rims and street tires, that makes a big difference. When I bolt on the R-comps, the ride gets notably stiffer. The GC/Koni yellow setup gets you great performance and adjustability not to mention flexibility when you want to tweak your setup. If you're on the track once a week, you're probably that type.

If you autoX that much, I'd get a second set of rims with dedicated autoX (sticky) tires. This gives you maximum performance on track, and maximum comfort off the track.

For a comparison I drive 500f/375r on Tokico Illuminas with Ground Control coilovers. They suck. They can't handle these spring rates worth shit I'll upgrade to something else in the near future.

I agree with UofACATS. Coilovers does not equal quality and proper setup is worth 100 times more than what ever glitz and glamor are spread across advertisements.

For starters, are you competing? If so what class, what is allowed by the rules? What type of tire/wheel combination are you planning on running. 2G AWD and FWD share the same setup. Spring rates may be a little different, but there are a lot of things that play into that (sway bars, auto-x vs. track day, tires, etc.). Personal recommendations:

Daily Driver: Eibach Pro springs and Tokicos

Daily Driver / Track Day: H&R OE springs and Koni Yellows (owned)

Track Specific: Megan coilovers, GC and Koni Yellows, Muellerized JICs (owned)

Well, that reminded me of the setup I ran on my GST. Koni yellows and H&R OE Sports. That was a small drop, a nice increase in performance, and quite comfortable to boot. You can't go wrong with that combo, and the quality is there.

Really, the setup is sporty but never harsh, and the drop in height was one inch, or otherwise known as perfect. My GST didn't look lowered at all, just looked good. I highly recommend.

Likely the damper can't control the spring, thus the "ride" suffers.

Who makes D2 anyway? China? D2 on DTM race cars is a reference to Vodafone mobile phone stores in Deutscheland, not the suspension. So I wouldn't exactly recommend Vodafone's suspension. Perhaps to claim that their suspension was used on DTM race cars?

And when you're searching through all the threads concerning K-sports keep a tally of how many times you come across a report of a blown shock. True, normally only the bad gets reported, but I can't help but say there are an alarming number of incidents.

It was my understanding that the ksports, megans, d2's etc were all made by the same company and were physically identical apart from paint job.

I want more than a year of use. Megan, D2, and Ksport are out of the picture now. I was looking at Koni yellows and Skunk2 adjustable coilovers, TEIN Superstreet or Flex, or something else.

These type of coilovers and such are not really a money option for me. We sell these things so I can get them at wholesale price. My friend is leaning towards Ksport because he says they are made by buddyclub....I am looking for duration (longevity of the ride) and control. Any opinions are welcome.
