2g knock sensor issue??

Well ive been struggling with knock as of late. Ive had my ecu reflashed 3times by a shop to cure it to no avail.i was getting knock in vaccuum sometimes up to 20 counts! Sometimes its fine sometimes not. Today i was cruising the forums and it hit me i had never checked the knock sensor. So i went outside to look at it. From what i can barely see from tjw top of the car is a lil bit of black goo substance around the wire and sides. I reached down and touched it and the goo is hard? Almost like dried black silicone but hard.

Is this a bad knock sensor? Someone have a pic of a good vs bad sensor?

ya when you get goo around the knock sensor its usually because they are dead.

Size wrench needed for removal? Looks like the passenger side is best access?
