Are the stock ones worth upgrading to say a FP intake pipe? What can i expect from a upgraded pipe? Right now i have a fp28, bpu, I/C pipes, Hahn Big Smic, running about 18 psi.

If its the 4in intake pipe for your t28, no its not worth it unless you plan on getting a larger turbo later on (turbo that has a 3-4in inlet). The 4in pipe necks down to 2 1/4in creates turbulence right before the compressor wheel. If you plan on sticking with the t28 any "injen" style intake pipe would work for you. You can find them on ebay for cheap.

Thats what i was needing to know. I was just using the FP as reference. I was curious as to the gains if any.

Read posts 7-8-9... I switched from the FP intake and it's "miracle coupler" to a proper sized intake for my 16g for this very reason. Very good info proving bigger isn't always better for certain applications. The "injen" style yielded more hp and it's smaller.

Good info there!

I think I read that thread before.

Curious as to which nipples are no longer required on the intake pipe once emissions have been deleted?

Only the BOV recirc?

I'm looking to replace my stock 2G rubber as well, as I'm having a lot of work being done to my car at the moment.

You can buy any pipe that has the proper fittings and just cap them off if you dont plan on using them. You can get a variety of vacuum caps (colors, sizes) at any auto parts store. My dejon pipe has one fitting on it and thats for the valve cover breather port. It originally came with no ports at all. I just drilled a hole and screwed a NPT barbed fitting in there. Some companies have different orientations for what suits your needs.

Interesting. So what is the problem with the Injen? The coupler or the pipe? Myt buddy has one and said his fit pretty well.

It's not so much the pipe. Some kits come with a shitty, long plastic MAS adapter and it pushes the air filter right up on the fender causing fitment issues. You want to get one that has the smaller aluminum adapter. You can also buy a smaller filter to compensate but thats just not cost effective. An example:

Yes.. ^^^

Well I have a Stillen aluminium MAf adapter and have the stock intake pipe. Even have the Stillen Carb legal sticker LOL. Im just wondering about the pipe. My buddy ha a Injen intake pipe he is wanting to sell due to him upgrading. Mine is stock so i thought i may pick it up if it was worth it.

If the price is reasonable, get it.
Also, RRE shows a way to modify your stock rubber piece by cutting the long pass recirculating piece inside the intake.
Injen style intake make's your turbo more audible.
That's the only difference I noticed back in the day.

Great info for newbies like me, thanks guys.

Time for me to pick up a K&N filter kit. My car came with an HKS Mega something or other, but it looks tired even after cleaning and I haven't looked into whether it needs replacing or just cleaning.

Not sure if it's filtering air properly haha.

HKS has one of the worst filter medias out there. I honestly like the dry flow filters that are out there nowadays. The link posted was interesting considering the gaines he logged.

^ This is the intake style I have. The smooth transition is what to look for in the snake down from the maf.

Mine is suspected ebay. But has all 4 ports. And the smooth transition.Mine also came with a vibrant filter, that does not fit.LOL. I ordered a K&N to be done with that.Xpsi also sells the evo/3000gt adapter and K&N for a tad over 50$.
