So while surfing the posts I've been reading that Evos are better than GSXs, well, not pricewise.LOL But what makes them better than GSXs? I mean they have the same 4G63 engine, right?

The differences (improvements) are too many to list here. But a few noteworthy things include:
A very sophisticated AWD system that is, in part, computer controlled.
A very stiff chassis.
A larger, better designed turbo.
Magnesium valve cover to help lower center of gravity.
Hollow camshafts for less rotating mass.
Sodium filled valves.
Better flowing factory exhaust.
Slightly higher compression pistons.
There is much more that I'm sure I either forgot or don't know about. But you get the idea.

The eclipse was made as a sport/economy car, while the evolution is designed as a sport/rally car. It does have the same motor number but is completely different. It is an all aluminum motor that is on the right side, it has a larger fuel system, larger turbo, better drivetrain, lighter weight car... and so on.

Romeen, can you explain "Magnesium valve cover to help lower center of gravity" ? I am not saying you are wrong, I just don't understand.

Cast magnesium is lighter than cast aluminum at roughly the same strength. If you decrease the mass of anything in a car, it's CG is lower. If you decrease the mass of parts farther from the street, its affect on CG is more. I don't think one mod like this would make very much difference at all, but racecar design is about removing ounces in 1234124 different places that add up to a significant performance difference.

The 4G63 was never all aluminum. It's always been an iron block with an aluminum head.

Ok that's what I thought u were talking about. That is a small difference compared to the many other you could of said which confused me. But you are right about every weight reduction helps especially the weight up top.

That's why the MR (Mitsubishi Racing) versions also have an aluminum roof (amongst other upgrades). Like kenamond said, probably won't make a significant difference for everyday street driving but for those wild and crazy rally racers I'm sure it does!:D

Don't give Evo 8/9 too much credit. DSMs are from a different decade and more comparable to the Evo 1-6. I was in Japan for several years and many servicemembers had previous generation evos which were much more comparable to a GSX than the Evo 8/9 which are vastly improved thanks to technology improvements, much like most cars these days.
