2g engine support

Need to change my headgasket on my 97gsx. Jacks I use always lose lift after a few days, wondering if a engine support bar would be a better option. Do I even need to support the engine is the 2nd question. Thanks!

i have always just jacked it up and then use a jack stand or bricks/ cinder block, but im cheap like that
