Hello, new member here, hope someone might be able to point me in the right direction. I have a 97 GST that was equipped with the DSMlink Eprom several years back. The eprom is dated 2008 so I assume its V1 or V2 DSMlink. I am trying to connect with my windows 10 laptop using the cables and adapter the DSMlink package supplied the previous owner. After much research and headaches I've found a driver for the Belkin USB adapter that works with Windows10. Now my laptop recognizes the Belkin USB converter along with a Prolific USB converter that I also tried.

I have the newest ECMlink software installed on my laptop and under configure settings I have selected DSMlink V1-V2 selected. I have configured ports and my laptop will respond with the usb hooked and unhooked, proving I have the correct port. Problem is I cannot connect with the car, error shows No response received. Yes key is on, even tried with engine running with full 14volts of power being supplied by the alternator.

I have verified power, ground and 5volts at the OBD2 connector, and I am able to power my hand held scan tool and read codes, so I assume things are okay on the car side of wiring. I have also tried a different OBD2 adapter to DB9 with no change. Also tried a different DB9 cable and as mentioned a prolific usb converter.

Not sure where to go next. Would be great if I could see if my laptop and cable and adapter setup will connect with someone elses car that does not have connectivity issues. Any ideas would be appreciated

I'd email ecmlink to see if you can get some help from them. Almost sounds like the ECU needs a firmware update done as communication protocols may be out of date. Another (best) option would be to have it converted to V3 as long as you can afford it.

Thanks, I've tried to email them, Erik had replied once, before I really dove into it very deep. Now no reply. Yes, an out of date firmware could be an issue especially with my download of the newest software off of the ECMlink site. Would be great if they would give me a yes, no or maybe answer. May consider sending my ECU to them and see if they could get it to connect.
