Hey guys,

I bought everything listed on the CTS-V brake swap website for this upgrade, only to find out that the adapter does not fit onto my hub (I’m not sure if the hub was swapped or not prior to my purchase of the car). The adapter hits the middle part of hub, as shown in the picture, causing the adapter to bounce around as shown in this

video.

Anyone with more experience than me want to chime in as to what my options are?

I’ve seen a couple options in this thread, like shaving 3mm off the caliper mounting ears, and adding a 3mm spacer in between the rotor and hub, instead of the 5mm adapter provided in the brake swap kit. Then I’ve seen someone just shave 5mm off the caliper ears, use no spacer and it bolted right up.

I’m not quite sure if either of these would work, as people really haven’t had issues with the hub itself, it’s mainly just clearance issues with the rotor and caliper that I’ve seen in the threads I’ve read.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Kyle :dsm:

What did you decide to do?

I sold the full kit for $550 and got GSX front calipers on top, I figured the GSX brakes would be a decent upgrade and the brake bias wouldn't be so drastic. My friend that I sold it to had this problem come up on his driver's side adapter. He decided to dremel out the opening in the middle of the adapter to get it to seat correctly. I had that thought too but I did not want to mess around like that when it came to the brakes haha.

The picture attached is what it looks like on his car. I guess the solution is to:

A) Spend the money to get OEM hubs with extended studs (if your wheel doesn't fit with the stock studs)
OR
B) (AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION, DON'T DO THIS IF YOU WANT TO BE SAFE!!!!!) Dremel down the inside of the 5mm adapter for the swap. Note that this will leave barely any material for the hub-centric part of the adapter. So do this at your own risk!!

I will update the thread if his brakes ever fail on that side. It may be fine. But who knows once he starts beating on it what'll happen.

Where? The link in the 2G BBK thread is dead.
