Nowhere near as clean as some of the whips on tuners, but its gettin' there! Still working out what I am going to do with the box. Not sure if I am going to use the body section or make a completely separate enclosure.

So, 2 weeks ago I had another Alt failure after I had gotten an alignment done. Went ahead and got a OEM replacement. Also upgraded the battery and ditched the OBX bleeder MBC and went with a Halman. Just got back from a nice Saturday afternoon drive. Everythings working great Boost is more responsive and comes on smoother. Still have some little tweaks here and there, but nothing major at this point.

Edit: Oh yeah, I did my hatch too. Needs adjusting...

Thank you Ejanes for the kind words. I still feel like I have a lot more to accomplish with this build. I think once I get a proper tuning solution in place I will feel as though the project is mostly completed. Really all that's left after that is fine tuning things like suspension (some new bushings) and some cosmetic fixes.

I love my GSX, it's been a great learning experience to build and its a blast to drive!

Well guys, looks like I'll be pulling my block a little earlier than I planned. I spun my rear balance shaft bearing yesterday. Not confirmed but definitely sounds like it's coming from that section of the block. The noise did not sound like rod knock or react like a main. It was a higher pitch & velocity ticking sound, I thought it was something rubbing on my front tire at first. Regretting not doing the rear when I had the chance. Live and learn I guess. Hopefully I didn't cause too much damage driving the extra mile before I got a tow, oil pressure remained stable. Feedback welcomed, thanks.

Got the head off Sunday. Everything looks ok except for a bit of carbon buildup on the 2 & 3 pistons. It was somewhat hardened and smelled like junky fuel probably from tuning to the richer side of things. So yeah, the walls look great actually. Next step will be to carefully remove the crank to inspect. Ill upload some pictures for you guys this weekend hopefully. Cannot order parts until I verify my crank is in good health. Thinking about getting a micro polish done if its ok. Looking forward to making a few small improvements to the bay and engine this time around, including a NA waterpipe and evo OFH swap for an oil cooler. Of course, the rear BS is getting removed also. Thinking about doing some kind of oil filter relocation to make it easier to access and bring it closer off the ground for added protection similar to a boxer style filter bracket. That 4g6- oil filter location has always bothered me, seems like people would be having filter punctures more often.

Updates on the rebuild. Ordered some parts today, also got some JE's in the mail. Should be starting with the first stages of block prep tomorrow. Looking to have it completely striped down and cleaned for a detailed inspection and some oil system modifications before sending it off to the machine shop.

Just a quick update for those following:

Dropping off my block this thursday for machining.
Rods and piston assemblies are all cleaned and paired up by weight, within I believe .05 grams. It was done about a month ago, don't remember the exact numbers atm.
Looking forward to getting this thing back on the road. Shooting for a first start by the end of May.
Next up on the to do list is cleaning up the engine bay and harness.
Not going crazy with a wire tuck or custom harness. Just getting rid of clutter, cleaning, painting and some harness maintenance.

Looks good but still needs a final wash and fresh paint. Deck was taken down .0025, wondering if it requires thicker hg. Machinist said it was in good shape to start, the mains were dead on with the girdle dowels & ARP studs. Oil galleries could use a little bit more work, they look rougher in the picture than they really are.

Final wash of block & parts. I tried the Mineral Spirits sprayer with my air compressor. I used a big storage container and put a smaller one inside it as a make shift parts washer, it worked out great. Assembled the crank & rods along with the new oil pump & BSE stub-shaft.

All cleaned up and ready. ROUND 2, FIGHT!

Just a few more odds & ends to button up the head refresh before I can start the final assembly. Valves & seals were in pretty bad shape so figured I might as well replace those too, *@#$%!. Did some light port work on the intake roof channels and blended the flashing in the runners. The exhaust ports also got a light port on the floor channels. Will probably run through the ports a few more times along with the oil-port mod. Here's some shmexy parts porn for your viewing pleasure. Note: I'm not too much for the bling-bling look so the SMIM is getting painted. Probably something durable like a black wrinkle coat or something similar. Nice looking piece, sheet thickness isn't bad at all. No flexing, and it fits the head perfectly. Will be using a composite gasket. The S90 is pretty sweet too.

Ordered some valves and seals. Still need some random odds and ends but the majority of stuff is pretty much ready to bolt on. Installed the rear main seal & oil pan this time around. After the long block is assembled my attention turns to the engine bay. EDIT: Crank sensor plate was backwards in the pictures, noticed this and fixed it when I did the timing belt, etc.

Weekend updates... Signs of rust from previous header wrap so I opted for some ceramic this time around. Planning on dropping the motor next weekend. Might even get to crank her over if everything goes smoothly.
