Got a bit more done on the cage. Both door X bars are done, dash bar is in, driver enclosure helmet bar is in, All thats left is 2 rear bars to go to my chute mount, some gussets and a million tabs for mounting things! The end is near. Recently placed my order for a carbon dash too! I am so excited for that.

As for the Rust Rocket, it is officially retired. Injectors are out of it and it will sit in the trailer until the new barn is built before it gets torn apart.

As for the new barn we just broke ground on it! It will be a 30x40 ! I CANNOT WAIT.

This was a huge pain in the arse being that it was thick woods we had to clear out

No where near finished but its a start! Luckily my neighbor has a tractor and he's helping me grade this whole area, we had about an hour of free time so he started digging, we will finish it up once I get back from Florida!

Barn update! The pad is finished and ready for gravel. Took 12 dump truck loads to get this up to grade!
Car updates - I haven't touched them LOL

12 dump truck loads???? Wow. That's crazy. Excited to see the progress on it - you should start a separate Barn/Shop Progress thread in Hangout to keep this one cleaner. I geek out on shop builds.

Great idea! Sadly, for the next few weeks there will not be any progress as I am just waiting on the building to get delivered but once there is some progress I will definitely start a new thread in the Hangout

We made the annual trip down to World Cup Finals over the weekend and had such a blast as usual. I had this waiting for me when I got home! I can't wait to get this cut up and installed

That was terrifying but its in! I have some quick release buttons on order for the mounts on the dash, one on each side for easy dash removal. Brandon is coming over tonight he's bringing my chute mount back so we can finish up the last few bars on the cage. Once its done sadly it all has to come back out LOL. I will be bringing the floor bar section and main hoop up to Mike to weld up for me. Meanwhile Brandon and I will be prepping the interior for paint!!

Operation catch can! $50 2.5 gallon eBay fuel cell, cut the top off, add some baffles, new top, inlet and vent an voila! This will vent right out of the center of the hatch in front of the wing. Plus being this was supposed to be a fuel cell, its sumped, so draining the catch can will be pretty simple. I plan to block off one of bungs on the sump, the other will run to a -8 an down under the car with a valve on it so draining it I won't even have to open the hatch. The plan is to have my valve cover and block vent lines to a bulkhead fitting on the firewall where they will merge to one big boi line 1.25" ish back to the catch can.

Well it definitely came out easier than it went in haha! The floor section and main hoop are ready to go off to Mikes to get fully welded(not together) and I can continue prepping for paint. Hopefully I can sucker Brandon into coming over this weekend and help me finish paint prep LOL. The entirety of the interior is all scuffed and sanded with the exception of all the spot welds where the factory seat brackets were. With a little welding and filler they should hopefully disappear and this thing can get PRIMERED !!

Knocked out some paint prep over the weekend and the cage is at Mikes getting welded! I'll continue getting it ready for paint throughout this week and if the stars align it's getting painted Saturday!

PAINT! Cats out of the bag here's the color LOL The interior is finally painted. Brandon did a killer job on this, I can't wait for him to paint the rest. Next up is to get the cage back in the car and welded in permanently. Sadly I will have to sand off some of this paint to get the cage welded back into the floor plates but this would have been impossible to paint the interior with the cage in. I will just have to touch those areas up - oh well.

Its about time to start yankin parts off the ol Rust Rocket. Got the head off to get sold to switch over to a 1g head and that is one happy and healthy head gasket! I've got A LOT to sell off this car which will fund the new and improved parts for the new build.

Also, got some of the cage back into the turd - this is all that will go in for now. The floor section needs tacked to the floor plates then it will all come back out, get fully welded then installed for the last time. From there the floor plates will get welded into the car and the rest of the cage can go back in for the last time! HAWT DAMN that paint looks good

I FINALLY worked on the car this weekend LOL managed to get a lot done. The floor bars are officially welded into the car and I got 90% of the 25.5 tacked back in. The last few pieces I need to make are a new windshield bar, roof bar and 4 gusset bars. This needs to be 100% tacked in by Saturday as the cars getting shipped off to Mikes house and he will be the contortionist to weld this whole thing up. Also changed how I am doing the front end so it can be symmetrical.
