2g AWD Auto DD - Summer Build - Advice?

It will externally gated for sure. I'm not worried about the top end flow. I'd wrather see a slightly faster spool. The A/R on the 9cm^2 has been tossed all about. I've heard everything from .48 to .63.

I just hit up the diesel forums tonight posting "want to buy" ads. We'll see if I can get a rebuildable one cheap.

The search for used parts begins...

9cm is definitely ar.63 as 6cm=around .42-3, 7cm=.48, 8cm=.55 and so on
External is definitely the way to go and will give consitent and solid boost
I see hy35s on ebay quite a bit as well.

I've watched a few come and go on Ebay. I figured I could pick one off a forum for cheaper. You know how that works.

I'd go with the 272 cams, for a DD car; maybe bigger if it was going to the track all the time. For the power you're shooting for, you can get that with the stock cams though.

Just use either the stock 2G MAS, or an Evo style one. It'll be easier and quicker to get a decent tune, and they're good for a lot more power than you're thinking of running. Probably more consistent too.

You might as well just get a 255hp pump and be done with it; about the same price and then you won't have to upgrade again once you get used to the power and think the car is slow.

Get some decent size injectors too since they don't cost much more, unless you run across an extra good deal of a specific size, say 650's or something.

This car will be 99% DD, .75% drag, and .25% autocross. The car club at school hosts an autocross every spring and it's fun to just run whatever car you have.
Now that they shut down the local Flashlight Drag program, you actually have to go to the drag strip, instead of the air strip, to race. Still, it might see 2 or 3 races every summer. This car is more of a "spirited DD", if you know what I mean. It will still be driven all winter, through the snow and everything else PA winters give us.

See, for a DD, I don't know if the 272 cams would be too big. That's one of my big questions on this build.

There are many daily drivers that run the 272 cams, they should work fine!
