I have a 1990 gsx and just got my motor built, and now i have a high idle. The car is fully built and tuned on E85. Car has HKS 272 cams sheet metal intake. I thought at first that maybe it was tune but checked it and wasn't. I took a voltage meter to everything i could think of and everything came out fine. I have read that iac when checked with voltage meter if it is good as in the number that it could still be bad. The starts off with a perfect idle and shoots up to 2000-2200 rpms and doesn't come back down. i live in Wisconsin so its pretty cold out.

Depending on the software it's tuned on there's generally an idle setting. There's a target idle setting for DSMlink... sounds like it might be in the tune. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you can unplug the IAC to check if it's doing it's job or not.

We have the target idle set to 1000 on the tune. It was set a little higher but turned it down, and still does it. I'm assuming if it doesn't move when friend turns car to the on position its the iac?

If you had the desired idle higher, and set it lower, and didn't adjust the BISS, you may have hit the end of your ISC's range. Time to properly adjust your BISS as well.

You read it, did you perform all of the steps as described? Answer that AND the ISC thing and we'll go from there. If you don't have any leaks, and the idle switch works, and the throttle cable's not adjusted improperly, there's not a lot else that can go wrong.

Checked the tune, BISSS set all the way in,TB was justed cleaned, system was pressure tested to 30psi, checked everything with voltage meter. Still have to check iac but need a friend to help me, also i dont have the coolant lines hooked up to tb not sure if thats a problem.

..Yeah, that's a problem. The coolant warms up and closes the FIAV. Unless you've got the FIAV blocked off, you need the coolant running through there or it'll do its job, increase idle speed to get to operating temperature faster.

ehhh not sure if its blocked or not. I have noticed the car gets to operating temp super fast. today it was 15 out and it only took like 1mile of driving for the car to get to operating temp.

That's all but completely irrelevant - especially because it was idling high and you were DRIVING. Hard to diagnose problems when you're not sure what the car's actually had done to it.

make sure that you put all your vacuum lines in the right place especially with the egr system. i got my two egr cylinoid lines mixed and it idled the same at 2k i swaped them according to the diagram and it took care of it. :thumb:

I know everything that is done to it. Well besides if the fiav is blocked or not. I just noticed that there wasnt coolant lines hooked up to it.

Had the same thing wrong with my Talon 2 days ago, tightened up the BISS and now it idles at 950-1100.
