Well i bought this turbo awhile back but am thinking about getting around to installing it now. I currently have a evoIII 16g on my car at 20 psi. I was wondering what other people have put down horse power wise with the 20g/16g hybrid? Mine is the 20g compressor wheel with compressor housing put onto the 16g hotside. Would it be a significant difference going from the 16g to the hybrid at this boost level? Any help is appreciated thank you! :hellyeah:

You don't have a "hybrid", you have a standard td05h 20G.

At 20psi, you are better off with the 16G.

I know a while back we had bastard 20gs and sleeper 20g,

td05 compressor housing/cover were machined to fit 20g compressor wheels. Used the same CHRA and hotside (7cm housing). FP said they made, if I remember correctly, around 400 hp. The whole point was that it is stock appearing like there new 68HTA.

Also sometimes called a "sleeper" 16g. Since it looks like a normal 16g, but has a little more max airflow potential. As to if you should go with it or not, no one can answer that without knowing what your goals are and why your considering this route.

Well I'm considering it because i want to exceed or come close to 400 fwhp an the 16g cant get me there. What boost level should this tdo5h 20g be ran at for it max potential? Her is an attached photo of the turbo. Does it look like the common tdo5h 20g?

You can get near 400whp on an Evo III 16g. Just have to have a VERY methodically planned setup. Some have even passed 400whp, though im not sure how many of those were using gasoline. Although to keep things reliable, yea a 20g would be a better choice.

As to how much boost to get 400whp with a tdo5h...who knows, depends on LOTS of things, backpressure, cam choice, tuning, fuel used, manifolds, etc. etc.

Yea well the highest octane we have around here is 91. Which I'm using along with water meth injection. Race gas here is at about 8 to 10 dollars a gallon because only one vendor sells it here. All modification in my profile are current. Except i have ecmlink and a water meth kit now. Currently still using the dsmchips tuned eprom chip due to lack of time to tune an lacking some of the know how. I'm learning it slowly but surely LOL.:thumb:

Oh, well that sucks...I think the TD06 would be more pump gas friendly. Considered adding toulean (sp?) I know a lot of people get it from paint supply stores and mix it with pump gas (it's already in pump gas) to raise the octane level. Sort of making your own home brewed race gas, just at a much lower cost. I know you can mix it with 93oct to get close to 100octane out of it before theres so much it starts making it hard to start the engine when it's cold. So you should be able to mix in a little with your 91 and easily get like 95ish without having cold start issues.

Hmm, i will have to check that out. I have the water meth kit running a 50/50 mix right now. it helps with my octane rating for now wouldn't mind bumping up the actual gas rating up a bit to be safe. So you think the tdo6 20g would be better for my hp goal? Would the tdo6 also be a bolt on turbo or do i have to use a t3 manifold to use that turbo?

It's going to be hard to make 400whp on a td05 20g on pump gas. Even with meth it might be a bit of a challenge depending on other factors. I would suggest something else if you really want to make that specific power number.
