We will once again be organizing a donation collection effort to build up a member-funded pot for the Shootout. This will be done through a DSMtuners member donations to a fund, which will be collected through Paypal with 100% of the contributions going towards rewarding class winners for DSMtuners members who enter to compete and win their class at the event.

Last year, we had two members (@311GSX and @TeamFury) who split the pot and were awarded a little over $500 each, plus parts donations from vendors.

The whole point of our community pot is to give our members a way to support each other, bring attention to members who are competing, and give recognition to members who donate to the effort - it's all about building stronger camaraderie within our forum and the DSM community. It also helps build some extra excitement for the event itself.

Here's how it will work, though it is subject to change as we work through the process:

Donations
All registered members of the DSMtuners community will be able to donate via a membership payment directly through the site, using Paypal. We may open it up to other payment processors, but for now, it will be Paypal. Once the donation is made, the member's account will be noted for special recognition for having donated to the effort. The process will be very similar to our Supporting Membership upgrade. Make your donation here. You can also see a list of all members who have made donations here. The donations will go into a pot that will be paid out to eligible members who win their class at the 2025 Shootout. If you'd like to offer parts or other rewards as a donation for winners, PM me.

Eligibility for the Payouts
In order to be eligible to receive this member-funded payout from DSMtuners, the Shootout entrant must meet the following criteria:
  • Must be an active DSMtuners member with a minimum of 5 posts
  • Must submit their official entry in this thread
  • Must have a Vehicle Profile and Build Thread with updates of the car posted this year
  • Vehicle entered to compete must be a DSM (1990-1999 Eclipse, Talon, Laser, or a 1991-1992 Galant VR-4)
  • Must display a DSMtuners decal on your car (can be ordered here)
We may change this criteria based on entry count. If you need help regaining access to an old DSMtuners account, contact us.

Payouts
We will determine which classes to award the payout to based on various factors this year. It will be entirely dependent upon which classes have winners who are members here on the site, and the number of entrants who respond to proclaim their eligibility. We may choose to break up the payout across multiple classes like we did last year, in the event we have multiple members who win their class, or we may decide to focus on one class if we raise less than, say, $1,000. In that case, we could award the payout to one eligible winner of one of the following classes, in this order of priority:

- Stock Appearing
- Street Eliminator
- Street 32
- Max Effort
- Quick 32
- SFWD
- 8.5 Index
- 9.5 Index
- 10.5 Index
- 11.5 Index
- 12.5 Index

Classes pulled from last year's list.

If the winner of the first class hasn't entered here on the site to be eligible, we'll move on to the next class until we come across a winner that meets the eligibility requirements.

But Wait, There's More...
We will also send the winner(s) some cool DSMtuners swag to make the pot even sweeter! If you need DSMtuners decals to become eligible for the pot, you can order some here, though we should have decals available at the Morrison Fab booth at the event for those who don't get their decals in time.

Fine Print -
All donations are just that - a donation to a community pot. DSMtuners does not keep any of the donations. Paypal may keep a small fee for payment processing. The remaining funds will be paid out to eligible winners. Donating does not enter you into a contest or a raffle. You will not receive any physical item or reward for your donation, you will simply be recognized for your donation here on our website in various ways. Donation is not required for eligibility of the payout. DSMtuners will make the final determination on which classes will be rewarded the payout, based on the class winners' eligibility (described above) and other factors. DSMtuners ownership is not eligible to win this prize money, though those who volunteer (moderators) are eligible - though they do not get any special consideration. We'd like to point out that you're certainly able to donate to the Shootout directly, and we encourage people to do that as well. But we hope you'll consider donating here as way of supporting other members in our forum and helping us build something cool around the event here on the site.

This information will be updated as necessary. Reply to this thread for questions. PM me for suggestions in order to keep this thread clean.

We got a couple donations already. Thanks guys. Unfortunately, the donations list still references all the donations from last year. I have to decide if I'm going to just delete all those or find a way to create a second list.

Glad to see you got this going again for the forum guys and community as a whole. May the best man win and most importantly have fun!
I think it adds a different layer of camaraderie to the community when you tie it into the forum this way. Anyone can make a donation directly to the event, and we encourage people who are open to it to do that as well, but we are building this around a system that is meant to build a stronger sense of community, with multiple features that recognize those who donate, plus components that encourage (require) people to be active and share updates on their preparation for the event here in the forum. I think it makes for something really cool and I’ve had people tell me as much. We hope to see more people getting involved as a result - not just the people who were already active here.

Can you PM me a screenshot of what you encountered? I donated myself and didn't encounter that. There should be not monthly subscription, just a one time donation when you donate from this page.

Don’t wanna sound dumb, when it comes to these newfangled computer things I’m way behind the times.. PM..??

Yeah just send me a private message with a screenshot of the page you’re seeing that subscription message on. If you need help with screenshots, just Google “screenshot Windows 11” - or replace Windows 11 with whatever device you’re using to browse the web. You should be able to quickly find instructions on how to take a screenshot.

When I click the link it takes me to PayPal to make a one time donation.

I'm dealing with court and other demands, otherwise you know I would have already donated to the cause. It won't be too late by the time I'm ready though and I hope others pitch in before then as well. This is a cause that won't last forever and every donation helps immensely. Happy racing everyone :)

Edit: Eh, I donated what I can for now. Let's see the turnout!

I hear you Solomon - times are tough and money is really tight for a lot of people right now with the state of everything. I can certainly relate. The struggle is real, as the say. Appreciate you putting something in the pot.

To everyone out there struggling to make ends meet, don't worry about donating this year. Deal with what you need to deal with and take care of yourself (and your family). Let those who are going through easier, more fortunate times carry the torch for you this year. We'll all understand.

For those that have the ability to add to this pot, we all appreciate your consideration and are grateful for whatever you can give. We know you're thinking about how donating means less parts you can buy for your car this month, and that's also no easy choice to make. So thank you.

Long live the DSM community!

Little by little.. wish I could come and check it out but, alas, stuck on the west coast, where drag racing began.. step dad even drove a AA/TF dragster at LLyons, irwindale, orange county, all over so cal..(engines were in the front back then) was young but was fun

I'll go ahead and cut off donations tomorrow night. Anyone who wants to donate, do it now.

Current total is at $401.38, down quite a bit compared to last year. But the person who wins it will probably appreciate it, I'm sure.
