Howdy! Hope I'm in the right spot?

First, I'm a Mechanic of 45 years, I've built everything from '31 Ford coupe with 1100hp big block, to custom Harley and Triumph choppers. And a 1969 200" Woody Gilmore front engine alcohol dragster. 6.97 @ 172mph.
I'm a welder, fabricator, electrician, I do not believe in the phrase "It can't be done".

I have my daughters 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, I built the car for her as a graduation present, I rebuilt the 2.4, 4g64 engine, all stock with an automatic, dropped it 4" with adjustable coil overs, 5000 watt stereo, 6 new speakers, and a 12" sub : ), removable steering wheel, 17" rims with 225/45r17 rubber.
Well she's tired of the "Dog", I need to pep it up, thought about 700 hp LS, roll cage, rear wheel conversion, 5 speed, all out drift car, well that's $$$$$$$$$$
We are all familiar with that evil sign, a lot of work, too much overtime!

So, can I install a complete 2.0 turbo Evo motor or the 2.4 with a Evo 8 head swap, not for sure what year/model would work? I want a turbo on the car, and you bet your rear I'm swapping to a 5 speed!

I have a brand new Mega Squirt 2 ECU, with wiring harness, from another project 2 years back. My money machine is broke, So I'm gonna have to work on other peoples projects to pay for parts. I'd like to double the HP or triple if possible, and be safe for my baby girl to drive daily. Any mild direction or info would be helpful, except for dumbass or moron, I hear that from my wife several times a day.

You can turbo the stock 4G64, and keep the stock ECU. The 3G ECU is flashable/reprogrammable using TephraMods and all the other applicable Evo 8 ECU software and cables. Stock 4G64 with a good tune can make decent HP, just tune safe. The problem is the automatic transmission will never hold any kind of power higher than stock. You'll have to swap it to the Evo 8 trans and find a way to block off the t-case and center diff portion.

This would be a better question for Club3G.com. This site is for 1Gs and 2Gs. But to answer your question, it's simple, straightforward, and not prohibitively expensive to turbo or Evo swap a 3G. There's even a spot in the rear to add a couple studs and install the subframe from an Evo/AWD swap one with Evo parts, making it a 3G GSX or mini-Evo.

You probably won't get much info or help here, as we're all more familiar with the 1G and 2G platforms.

You joined the forum yesterday and have already donated to the shootout pot. What a strong way to enter, and we're all appreciative and glad to have you.

As stated, this is a forum for the platforms being considered a "DSM". You can read further HERE. Your 3G Eclipse doesn't fall into this category, unfortunately. With that said, we will still be as helpful and welcoming as possible.

On the topic of your current project. While the 4g64 can be boosted relatively easily, you aren't pushing 700hp on the stock internals. Or anything close. The MS2 is a good starting point. With those goals, tuning is very important, and really the key to reaching them.

There's nothing off a shelf or out of a box that will get you where you want to be. But if you have the know how, skills, and time to figure out how to build something that was never intended to exist... you can make it happen. Forget what might bolt into the car. Choose the platform you'd like to build from and make that work. Nothing in stock form is ready to produce that kind of power. And nothing that will bolt up to the chassis can get there without serious modification. So find something that can achieve the desired power level with reasonable accommodation, then spend the rest of your efforts making it work with the vehicle, and the vehicle work with it.

I'd be happy with 250hp, way better than 90hp, plus i figure dropping in a five speed is a huge step forward!! : )

This is a 4G69 SOHC, which is the same idea, but it gives you the recipe on how to add some power to the 2.4L SOHC:

Major swaps are a headache, and frankensteining motors together is more trouble than it's worth. The 2.4 will make a good amount of torque with a really simple turbo setup, it should be a lot of fun.
