I have a guy that's building up my engine and turbo. He told me that I should find a 2.4L bottom end to replace my stock 2.0L bottom. Will that work ? Is it an easy swap ? I am trying to get max boost on my 99 GS, turbo. I have completely redone the fuel system, cooling system, exhaust, etc. What do you guys think ? I don't know much about swapping parts like that. What will fit on my car ? Is it better to just get a howell kit or some other after market kit ( which one if so ) or should I do the bottom swap ?

I would go with the swap. You can take a 4G64 6 bolt block from a 91 Expo . If you're looking for a 7 bolt then i beleive it was a couple of the years following 91 that the Expo had the 7 bolt 4G64. The 4G64 will mate up perfect to a 1G head...not sure on the 2G head (but if anything you would just have to widen the bolt holes slightly). You will only need the 4G64 block and crank. You will then need to get new rods and pistons (the 4G64 is a larger bore block and it also has a longer stroke). If you want to you can keep the 4G64 rods and pistons...but if your goin to build it then you might as well do it right. Other than that, every thing else can be carried over from the ol 4G63...although i guess you're runnin a 420a atm? If so then you will want to get ahold of a 1G 4G63 head (better flow thent he 2G) and you will need to get the timming belt as well...also all the other accesories....manifolds, oil pump, etc. If you have any other questions just ask...I know a decent amount about this subject seeing as i have spent the last 4 days doing research for a 2.4 build im doing in the coming year. I dont know everything, and I will try not to answer if im not sure...but i should be able to help some.

its a G4CS block.. from a 89 galant. thats the one you WANT. Screw a 4g64. u can put a g4cas block with a 4g63head and cam gears and timming belt and have a BEAST.. my buddy has done it.

You obviously dont know a whole lot on the subject....you go ahead and use your "g4cas" block. But the G4CS block is NOT the only 2.4L block out there that matches up with the 4G63. Next time do your research on what you are so "knowledgable" on...at least i said that I dont know everything

If you want some good advise slow99eclipse....then look at what i learned from Suparata (a DSMtuners Wisemen, mind you). Here's the link...and i edited my first post...the 4G64 motor is NOT found in the 91 GALANT...its in the 91 Expo...i said that im still learning...but ill be sure to tell you if i find different then i ever tell you :thumb:

I love when people respond with ignorance. Screw the 4g64?? If you werent so stupid and ever saw the inside of a g4cs or a g46b(both 6-bolt 4g64) you'd see on top of the pistons they all say 64. Theres no difference except what year they came out of depending on which vehicle you get your donor out of(g46b came out of early galants 85-87 and pickups/expos)Stop posting regurgitated sh*t go to the junkyard and actually sit there all day ripping one of these out and comparing the difference between any of them, 7-bolt 6-bolt whatever. They are all 2.4l.
