my buddy is interested in building a motor useing a 2.4L block with a 2.0L head. i know its been done but im not sure whats involved exaxtly. i know the motor has better rod angles then the 2.3L motors but im not sure if the pulleys will be a problem or if the block has extra holes for cooling.

any information and tips would be greatly appreciated. thanx

yes it will work fine you will have to plug a few passages in the block and get a timing belt for a dohv 4g64 which is a 95 galant. your deck height is taller so you need a little longer timing belt...

there is a article on this but i cant remember where.

www.barnonemotorsports.com is building my 4g64 with a 2g head right now

drop them a line and talk to Kim or justin they have all the info.

the timing belt from a dohc 4g64 is what im looking for. or is it dohv?

also will a 1g head work. he will be wanting to use a 1g head for this setup. thanx

pistons choice. what is a good setup. the motor will be turbo. now if i use the stock 63 rods say crowers for example, would i be able to use the stock wrist pin location or would they have to be a stroker setup with the pin moved up.

thanx for the replys guys.

weisco makes a hybrid piston along with many other manufacturers.
Run a search on the pistons and you will see what I mean.

If you dont want to work for the information go to magnus's website and order thru them.

you plainly want 4g63 pistons in .060 over that is for the 2.4 block using 2.4 crank. pistons and rods stay the same the crank and block are the difference.

earlymighty max's and galants had 6-bolt 64's in em. i forget what year this particular model is but its a 6-bolt. i also had a 6-bolt 64 crank.

If I can find this block and proper timing belt, it is a straight forward swap with air conditioning and every thing? What about the ecu?

No, really you don't want .060 over 4g63 pistons. You want pistons specifically designed for the 4g64/g4cs block with 4g63 head. If you don't, you'll end up with a different compression height, and therefore a different compression ratio.

Look at the www.wiseco.com website, and look at the Mitsubishi pistons. They would be .080 over stock diameter anyways, assuming that you wanted to actually hone the block for new pistons. (you do)

The part # for the correct piston for the 4g64 with 4g63 head (6 bolt motor) is K564M87 which is .020 over for 4g64 block.
