Can someone explain to me what the real difference is between the 6 bolt 2.3 or 2.0 liter motors. What year were they made? etc
 
Yeah just search and read there is a ton of info on here about strokers and 2.4 liter motors and such. I can't remember the engine code but I think one comes out of a Hyundai, something you could look into if you are thinking about a little more displacement. Or build a 2.0 and add more boost.
 
Above info is correct. To add they use the 2.4L crank from the larger mitsu motors found in the Galants and some other models. With custom stroker pistons you can create a 2.3L out of our 2.0L blocks. They are tq monstors but some think they cant rev as high as 2.0L's safely. But some are doing it now a days.
 
For the 2.4L you can take the g4cs which was in Sonatas and other cars and put a 6 bolt 4g63 heads and some low compression pistons. Where as you can also make a 2.4 out of the n/t 2.4L eclipse bottom end and put a 7 bolt 4g63 head on it.
 
You asked what years the 6-bolt 2.0 and 2.3 were made. The 6-bolt 2.0 liter was put in DSMs between 1989-1992. The 6-bolt 2.3 was never a factory motor in a DSM. A 2.3 is a motor you build from a 6-bolt 2.0 block by using a different crankshaft, etc. Some people call the 2.3 a stroker engine, etc. Hope this clarifies.

It is a proven fact in automotive engineering that a larger stroke on an engine will hinder its ability to rev high. the people that run the 2.3L strokers and such to high rpm's have to rebuild them every season because of all the added stress from the larger stroke. it doesn't matter how bulletproof the internals are something is bound to break
 
I don't know if you can get 600HP on pump gas. I would strongly suggest switching to E85 for that kind of horsepower. Since you have to use 30% more E85 to make the same power as pump gas, that much more liquid fills the cylinders and keeps them cool. This significantly reduces the chance of knock (predetination) and piston melt.

As long as you're running pump gas the maximum HP of the 4G63 will be limited by the air flow through the valves. As the air approaches the speed of sound no amount of boost will force more air into the engine. The Stroker version with its larger displacement will reach maximum HP at a lower RPM.

Changing the rod ratio of the 4G63 changes the nature of the beast. In broad generalities longer rods as in the 2.1L are more like high revving race engines and lower rod ratios as in the 2.3L stroker give more low end torque and are better for street use in traffic. The good old 2.0L 4G63 is compromised (in my opinion) slightly in favor of a racy feeling.

The lower rod ratio of the 2.3L is better at converting combustion pressure on top of the piston to torque at the top of the stroke where the pressure is highest while the higher rod ratio of the 2.0 is better at converting pressure on the piston to torque at the bottom of the stroke, possibly getting more energy from each charge.

An advantage of the 2.3L stroker in a high HP DD is that it will spool a large turbo faster making the turbo lag more bearable. Personally I chose a 2.3L stroker with a small turbo and a high stall torque converter so I'm speaking of turbo lag from distant memory.
