hey whats up forum, just got my first car, being a 1g talon es. :D

its a nice lil daily driver which im just for now. got it cheap since the previous owner needed money.
well when i got the car
it had some shot fuses for windows nd fan, easy fix.
had a biiiiggggggg aluminium wing..... took it off as soon as i got home,.... haha
color is red, with black hood, laser body kit?? and just got the stock 1g wing panted it black to match the theme? haha just dont know what to use to hold it on there without it flying off.
bad thing has 213k on odometer.... is that too much mileage???
they replaced the head, and previous owner said the bottom end was rebuilt while they replaced the head, theres no paperwork or nothin since he only owned it for a couple months that he lived in oregon. well since i needed a car badly for work nd getting around i decided to get this talon. so far hasnt givin me any problems mechanical wise. just that the passengers window motor got jammed the day i brought it home :/
its been doin a screeching noise at start up on a chilly day or after not being on for a while... im guessing timing belt? should i deal with it before it gets worse??
oh they also welded on a muffler nd some piping. sounds to loud and kinda ricer.. not liking it... also it back fires ALOT! any tips on that??

will being doing a basic tune up next pay check.

Hopefully the head was replaced and the bottom end was rebuilt not too long ago, because that would mean that the water pump, timing belt, etc. would have been changed then too. As far as the timing belt squeeling on startup.... It's most likely just the alternator belt. Try to tighten it up a little, or maybe it needs replaced. If you want a quieter exhaust you'll need to put a muffler that is not a straight through turbo style one if you don't want to hear the popping and backfiring. Good luck:thumb:

without hearing it the noise could be just morning dew on the belt causing it to chirp. you can tighten the alternator belt and ac belt to help eliminate this. it has high miles so id find out whats been done to the car maintenance wise. oil changes, timing belt, battery, fuel filter, etc. see what the previous owners did. maybe it just needs plugs and wires. hard to determine from here.

Thank you.

You have so many question marks, I'm not sure if you're asking, or telling. If you can, just leave it off for now until you have the right bolts to install it properly. We don't like ugly cars that have parts hanging off :p

That's a silly question. YES, check it out and do the needful. Don't tighten a belt, to get rid of the squeel, if it's gone to sh*t already. Just replace it asap before you f* up the car.

oh they also welded on a muffler nd some piping.

Is it just an aftermarket muffler? What do you mean by piping? You saying there's no cat, just piping all the way to the exhaust mani?

will being doing a basic tune up next pay check.

Yes, please do! Get yourself a FSM, or book at Autozone for now, and give it some love. If you're smart, you'll check every inch of the car, not just the engine. Brakes, Suspension, transmission, tires, etc. Post some pics..we want to see!!!

And welcome to Tuners. Glad to have you!

to do list:
oil/oil filter change Castrol 10w-40, might go with the high mileage one, what do you guys think?

ill ask more about history on the car.

spark plug change [NGK spark plugs] :D

check and if needed replace alternator belt, check other belts too.

for the wing, hopefully i go to junk yard nd get correct bolts. if not find some at auto store.

wash/ wax car at the end haha

just went to take some pictures on the car and well

check out the the exhaust system on this ...

Nothing wrong with the exhaust, it's standard exhaust flex tubing. It's used as an alternative to the braided piece. Muffler *looked* stock from the back side anyway.

If you want a turbo then save up for a turbo, it'll be much easier to work with than trying to turbo a NT

If you want to quiet that 1gen down on a budget, autozone has a cherry bomb muffler for like $25 and a glasspack also for a great price. How much you get it for, looks like a good buy.

I say keep the head. You can have it built up outside of the car. Maybe look around for a turbo short block. Look on ebay for engnbldr he has very good products been in the game for 20 years or so working with toyotas and he carrys 4g63 stuff.

Get a set of his +1mm valves, some good springs and retainers, 3rd generation eclipse lifters. Set of cams I suggest 264/272 pr 272/272 cams of some brand. Voila built head.

Id say get rid of the flex piping,My experience is that they dont really quiet it down as much as you think they would, and plus it looks like the previous owner just slid the flex on,not clamped?. I like the wheels man! Is that a bungy cord holding down your battery?and also, put on the upper tb cover//please!! all in all good luck on fixing that bad boy up!

do not turbo a NT car its a nightmare, friends of mine have tried it

ahh i see... about the exhaust..

well you guys say that its gonna be a pain trying to turbo a non turbo??
hmm guess im gonna have to look for a tsi hahah

after i doin basic maintenence i think ima post it for sale and see what ppl say.
whats a good price range for this car??

94 eagle talon es
213k
interior 8/10
exterior 7/10 no dents but clear coming off fender
no leaks or nothin..

thanks for ## guys comments and advice :)

I live in Keizer. If you want to drive out here one day I'll help you do some basic stuff DSMs frequently need. We can give it a good loon over. I don't have shit to do otherwise. I am off Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednsdays. I'm not looking for money. Just something to do. If you are interested pm me.

If you don't know what you are doing and aren't prepared. I did a full turbo swap (engine, trans, ecu, harness) on my Eclipse GS. The actual swap took me about a week.

To the OP, if you want to do a turbo swap it can be done but it takes a lot of preparation time getting the right parts and you have to be comfortable pulling the motor and taking on a large scale project. I agree with the above posters that it is easier, and usually cheeper, to just start fresh with a factory turbo model but the swap can be done. Check out my blog if you want to see what was involved.

$1,000 tops. Probably less. There is not much demand for high mileage, non turbo, modified/riced/abused cars.

Hope this helps!

A 94 ES was my first DSM. I'd probably still have it if I didn't get into an accident with it. It was a great car. As far as 213K, I wouldn't worry about it as long as it doesn't burn oil and has good compression. Just keep up on maintenance. My 99 just turned 215K and still going stong so it all depends on how you take care of it. It looks like a clean car and thank you for de-ricing it. Keep it for a DD and find a turbo one to tinker with. That's my 2 pennies.

The pricing?? Yeah non turbos arent much. if the motor runs strong maybe 1000 tops. I see talons and eclipses run under 1000,with less miles, and some are turbo'd. If the body is in great shape, rides nice, paint is good, quiet, and runs great,Maybe 1400...maybe. The guy who i got my tsi from wanted 1200, 215,000 miles on it but has a rebuilt motor w:hellyeah:ith a little over 20,000..well about 22,000 now. I traded my spyder for it. So, those wheels on it right now, those bring up the value atleast 200. so You have that to go for ya.

my bad i havent updated, got in a lil wreck
my control arm just got bent in half ### i went into a ditch :(

Car is comming along man, keep it up :thumb: But you should also take gusu up on his offer to help you if your new to dsm's. a buddy of mine has a white 93 ES here that in mint condition, but needs a clutch.

1+ on needing to take gusu up on offer. I wish I did when I was starting... Definately sell her if you want a turbo car. Think about it. If you made a non turbo car turbo, (which wasn't ment to handle higher pressure from turbo) there could be cataclismic problems. My buddy turbod out his S2000 and snapped a rod about 400 miles into it.

But if thats the road you're going down, make sure you follow all the steps and replace the internal parts. Something as simple as an o-ring can f* up your whole week. Good luck and she is coming along very nicely...
